Looking for guidance on SR20VE tune with SR16 pistons 13.7:1 comp
I'm new to the whole tuning stuff and still going through all the forum stickies so take it easy with me

This is what I have,

- NX2000 ecu and daughterboard with VVL activation and launch control, it was programmed on my old engine (stock compression SR20VE) but I have several new mods now.

- Innovate wideband

- Apexi SAFC2

I've been messing with tunerpro, and successfully loaded some XDFs and BINs.

So my questions are,

- What do I need to burn new chips to my daughterboard? can I reuse the ones that are currently on my ECU? what tools do I need to perform this (software and hardware)?

- I'm looking mainly for a new timing map to control detonation, specially at engine startup. Also modify my fuel map now that I have my injectors running at 4 bar (SR20DE injectors) and a new compression ratio (13.7:1). Is there some sort of database where I could get some examples??

- How do I preserve my vvl activation when reprograming??

This is my build:

Thanks in advance!

I think that for that kind of compression ratio, in a SR20VE you will need something bigger than SR20DE inyectors. Personally i would tune your car in a dyno, as with that compression, detonation is almost sure without a tune...

Good luck, hope to se great numbers!

Really?? I thought SR20DE injectors were good up to 300whp @ 4 bar.

And of course, I will get it on a dyno but I need to know how to tune it first

According to Andreas Miko, the DE 259's are good to appx. 203 WHP @ 4 bar. I believe that estimation is a bit conservative but you will not get anywhere near 300 WHP with them.

Here ya go

P.S. Nice build!

Thank you!

You're right, it's 203 whp, still safe as I think am doing around 180 whp.

I am not sure what type of board you have but you will most likely need a Moates chip burner to burn new tunes for the board. Yes, you can reuse the chips.

Here is a good thread to read with some good info on Moates/Moates Ostrich tuning abilities.

With that kind of compression ratio you will need big cams and will get more than 200whp. Here we are going to build a engine with that receipe and N1 cams and hopes to get 210whp or more...

Just my 5 cents,

Good luck,

OK, so if I'm undersanding the basics, this would be the process to get realtime tuning,

- Get an ostrich 2.0 with Tunerpro RT (175+39 at moates.net)
- Get the Eeprom out of my ECU and put ostrich in it's place
- Load XDF and base bin to start tuning (can I get these files from anywhere? or are they included in the tunerpro RT package?)
- After tuning is done, burn the final eeprom to replace ostrich.

Is this right?

I could give you further advice but there may be better options then what I suggest. Other then providing the links and reading them, which is what you have done, I do not have a lot of knowledge on Chipped basic ECU set-ups.

You can get TunerPro RT for free, from here. A donation is suggested but not a must.

You can get the necessary xdf files from here. There is also another thread kicking around with .bin files but I can not seem to find it.

@Vadim would be able to give you some good advice here.

Also, @JKTUNING and @OnTheChip would be well-versed in these areas.
