safc tuning(in and out)
hey guys, im picking up and installing my safc this afternoon and thought I would ask you tuning pro's to give me some pointers on "road tuning? my car.

There arent any dyno's around or people who do this in my area so I always just learn to do my own stuff.

So basicly, i need a crash course on tuning with safc. I did a little bit of searching and found the install thread on how to install it.

My base tune is for 370's@3bar from sr20gti-r. Also you can change maf's with the safc correct? Cause if thats so, im gonna change to my cobra maf.

Thanks everyone

You need a wideband o2 sensor. ( I like/use Innovate LC1)

Next you will need some means of logging the AFRs against the RPM in realtime. (I use Innovate SSI-4 for this)

Start off by getting a base (That means all SAFC settings defaulted)

Do a street log like this:
3rd gear 2500rpm -> take foot off throttle - > let rpms fall to 2000rpm -> WOT @ 2k till redline.

^ Repeat this base once again and compare both logs.

After you've checked your logs look @ areas in the rpm range that you wanna -/+ and jus change the values accordingly on the SAFC in small increments (-/+ 2 or 3%) Then keep doing the logs as I said until you acheieve your target AFRs.

If you have to -/+ over 20% id say just get your ecu re-flashed.

As for the MAF id say its best for you just to keep the stock one with those 370ccs @ 3bar

ok, also i searched and what in and out for de maf. Do you set the in and out the same for hw, pressure, flap or do you just one of the three settings? I know you can change all three but I just need some quick help on that.

Im new to this so please dont flame me for being new at the safc. Im trying to learn it. Im taking the car to get it tuned but i would like to know what to set the in and out to so i can drive it to the place im getting it tuned at. I have a really good base tune so it will be ok to drive there.

stock MAF is a hotwire type sensor.

all those three choices are different types of MAF sensor varieties.

Buffalo: instead of making a new thread about SAFC hope I can tag along with your thread, I'm also using NEO problem I have right now is that its not reading RPM signal any place I should check?
