Forging Sr20det In S14a
Hi all , this is my first thread and post at the same time on this forum. I have decided that I should get involved in the online conversations since you get feedback from a lot of other experienced tuners.

Right, I live in London, UK, and own a black 200SX with an sr20det motor, here is a pic.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I own the car for about a week now, sadly 2 days ago, driving down the road on the way home at 2am, my bottom end went...
It was owned by an old guy for the last 11 years and I don't have a clue what he's done to it but my mechanic says that the crankshaft has been "force fixed temporary" before, not sure what that meant. In other words there was a problem before but it got silenced and me putting my foot down here and there got the noise going again, very specific knocking got worse and worse in space of couple of hours then I stop at lights and suddenly my car became a tractor, bah bah bah bah bah... pistons started slapping the head and all.... Well I still love the car and want to rebuild it. My problem is that I can't seem to find a proper forged internals kit for my sr20det, I can even buy of american websites and just pay for shipping to UK. I have up to £3,000 to spend which I think is about $4,000?? .I would really appreciate those experienced people helping out by suggesting here and there, and maybe you guys know any websites I could turn to? I am spending quite a lot of cash so I need to get it right. Looking forward to the replies, thanks

I think you need to do a tear down and see what's damaged. A rod knocking that bad usually involves it coming apart and making a hole or severely damaging the block. You might need to look for an entire engine instead of just internals.

$3000 sounds like way too much for forged internals.

Mazworx has a package deal for under a 1000 for rods pistons and bearings, I really don't think the crank needs upgrading, you could just buy a used replacement.

here is the link to the package:

Just tonight, I spoke to a friend of mine who seems to know what he's talking about since he's had 1000bhp r34 rb26dett, and an rx7 1000bhp as well. He reckons the best option for me is to put in an rb25det... will £3000 be enough?

hey zeekan,

from the way you are writing your posts you seem to be a little bit of a greenhorn boyracer. I don´t want to be rude at all but maybe you should forget about the RB swap if you don´t have allot of experience in working on cars.
3000gbp will be just enough to buy a cheap spare engine and get it overhauled completely plus a little bit of rest quits to save for the future.

Ask the drifter guys on Drifting with Driftworks to find a good workshop for the job near your place.

Nice car though

Spool Imports - Performance Parts Direct From Japan <~~~~~ try them there in AUS I think. Find a used crank that's in good shape and rebuild your motor. If u use forged parts the money won't stop there. Your going to need bigger injectors, cams, turbo to make more power. If u just like to drive around then I'd just change the crank and rebuild the motor.
