Just had a thought cross my mind (coolant/cooling)
So as I was driving home today with the beast, I noticed that my coolant temps never seemed to get to the point that the fans needed to be turned on.

Now, with that being said, the thermostat is still stock. The fans with the OBDI RT were set to come on at a lower temperature (by 179* IIRC), and the car would actually get hotter than it does now.

What I'm thinking, is that if you all decide to lower the setpoint in the ECU for the fans to turn on, you should ALSO buy a lower temperature thermostat.

For instance, I think the Nismo thermostat opens at 154 degrees. Therefore you should also lower the fan turn on temps accordingly. The stock thermostat opens at 168*, so that's a difference of 14*. The fans should then turn on at 198* vs. 212*.

Just a thought.

Sounds good. Shouldn't the fan off temp be lowered also?

Cheers,

I have my fans kick on at 85*C (185*F) with a hysteresis of 6*. This has been working quite well for daily driving for the most part. On a hot day the car still gets up to 200*F.

I would almost suggest against using water wetter because it increases the warm up times, thus your outside of the engine efficient temperature. Maybe more fans?

Nismo thermostat opens at 62C (143.6F). I just got one, installing on Monday.

Yep, I would bring the entire table down based on old thermostat vs. new thermostat values.

I'd imagine that if I put a Nismo in the car right now, and lowered the temp table, that she'd run cooler all the time.

Gotcha, I thought it was a 64*C thermostat.

I was thinking the fan off temp should never be below the thermostat temp, because once warmed up, the thermostat shouldn't let the temp get below its temp, which would keep the fan on all the time.

Right. Unfortunately I can't test because I fear the ECU has gone kaput. I re-soldered the stepdown harness and still don't get any signal to the fuel pump relay.

I can however still communicate with the daughterboard

I would also like to do this w/stock T-stat, what do i change in map? do I change just the 212* to 198* or all 4 need to be at different settings also?
my map looks like this..thanks:o

4-221* F
3-212* F
2-203* F
1-194* F

On that subject, is there any way to adjust the fan on and off temp on a daughter board? I use Romeditor mostly, and Tuner Pro sometimes, and havent come across anything yet.
