From the FSM:
"MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR MALFUNCTION
If the mass air flow sensor output voltage is above or below the specified value,
the ECM senses a mass air flow sensor malfuntion. In case of a malfuntion, the
throttle position sensor substitutes for the mass air flow sensor. Though mass
air flow sensor is malfunctioning, it is possible to drive the vehicle and start the
engine. But engine speed will not rise more than 2400 rpm in order to inform the
driver of fail-safe system operation while driving."
I'd say you have been informed by your ECU.
Double check the MAF wiring.
From your other post
http://www.sr20-forum.com/turbo/30962-maf-not-working.html
^^^the JWT site is correct.
That is the view of the MAF plug, not the harness connector.
It is looking at the MAF plug from the point of view of the harness connector.
Do you have a volt meter?
Double check the pins on the harness connector.
With key on(don't start engine), you should see 12v on one of the pins.
Then make sure that matches up to 'E' on the MAF plug.
*EDIT*
Just checked my J30(same as Z32) MAF on my '94 B13.
MAF pin-----MAF pigtail-------Harness wire
B------------White--------------Orange
C------------Black--------------White
D------------Orange------------Red
E-----Black w/White stripe---Orange w/Blue stripe
A and F are not used.
