Thread: aem ems question: about e85 and fuel map

i was meeting up with a guy whom had a mk2 vw hatch on e85 and he was saying alls he has to do to run e85 from pump gas is turn up the fuel pressure.

and it got me to thinking the fuel setup i running is:

walbro 255lph
JWT hi flow fuel rail
msd 72lb injectors
nismo afpr
z32 fuel filter

can i just adjust my gas tune to a higher fuel pressure to accomidate 30% more fuel on the fuel map to run e85? could it be that easy?

basicly i want to run e85 with a gas tune, and adjust the fuel map to allow more fuel flow

just tune the nitrous maps in the ems to your e85 tune or the gas tune and use a switch to change between the e85 map and the reg pump gas map.

how would i go about adjusting the gas tune to run more percentages of fuel, i know how to change the whole map to run 3-4 bars. do i just add in 30 % more fuel to the gas map

the ems has 2 full timing and fuel maps. one is for nitrous and one for every thing else. you could probably just take the reg fuel map and add 30% fuel to it to get a ball park and copy that into the nitrous map. you would be then able to do this with the timing map as well make a nitrous map for e85 use. with a switch you can trigger the use of the nitrous map when your on e85 and flip the switch bam back on pump gas tune.

Yes you can do that, although when Dan and I did it, it ended up being about 25% then a little bit of tweaking here and there.


Depending on how much power you want to make, the fuel pump will run out of flow first I think around 420 WHP.

could you run the walbro 255lph then add in another inline fuel pump? would that be the best way to just add a inline. or upgrading 1 pump to a larger lph?

First off I think your last post was meant for a different thread?

You will get a little bit more flow if you add a second Walbro in-line with the first but more-so you'll be able to run much higher fuel pressures. I don't think that's what you're after.

You could put a second Walbro in parallel with the first and that would get you the much higher flow you're after.

Although I always recommend one Bosch 044 fuel pump over the dual Walbro setup.

well i think for now a single walbro 255lph would probably flow enough forwhat im after, i dont think personally the gt2871r is capable of running ovr 420whp with a respectable ammount of psi im not really looking to run over 22lbs on e85.
