how to download BIN file?
Sorry if this is a repeat question but I can't search for the word BIN since it is only 3 letters.

I have nissan datascan and a consult cable, how do I download the BIN (is that correct?) so that I can burn it to a new chip or exchange it with people? Can datascan do that or do I need some other software? thanks

Nissan datascan will not reprogram the ecu.

First you will need an ecu with the capability to program it. I can either by burning proms ( Calum basic ) or throught onboard memory ( Calum RT or Nistune ). How you load the bin depends on what type you have.

There are bins scattered around the forum mostly in the Calumsult section. You will want one the is for the same MAF and injector size you are using. Ideally you would use a wideband O2 sensor to finish the tune or at least verify it.

If you have more questions just ask.

Sorry, I guess I wasnt clear. I have a tuned ECU already, I want to download the tune off my ECU so I can share it and possibly burn it to another chip and use it in an ECU that has the capabilty to run two separate programs and switch between them like this one.

I understand that I cannot reprogram it using datascan, I want to have someone burn it for me but I just don't understand how to download the tune from the ECU. I hear it referred to as a bin file, so how do I get the bin file off my ecu and onto my computer? Thanks

Ok, you should be able to use datascan's rom data function to create a bin file from what is in the ecu now. Give it a try.

just downloaded the datascan manual. I see exactly what you are talking about, now I feel like a jackass cause it was right in front of my face the whole time. haha

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.
