TP stands for Theoretical Pulse width. It is a value calculated using the input from many sensors, some other variables a look-out table and possibly a constant or two. It is supposed to represent how much fuel the engine needs at any particular moment. I believe if you logged the TP readings as you did a pull on the dyno the TP values would closely match the HP curve.
If you want to read more about it Vadim likes to give poeple this link: http://www.plmsdevelopments.com/files/nissan_ecu_tuning_basics.pdf
I also like this one: ECU Tuning
Our forum member dfddfd2 is also intimately familiar with the calculations of the TP value and how it is used in the ECU.
Whoa.
Dan, can you recommend me a aftermarket ECU/daughter board or Apexi or anything else for me? I'm not going to turbo my car, rather put a VE in it and thats a long term future plan.
I'm looking for controlling how my car handles and since it's a DD I also want it to get a decent fuel economy when driven like everybody does and of course the extra power I could get out of it interest me also (and at WOT I care less about fuel)
I own this car for 6 months now and finally got it in a good shape engine wise and next time I will get a 2.5" header, I'm not sure on the intake yet and I also learned I would like to get a different intake cam (but no means/knowledge/tools to pull that one off yet) After that I'm not sure what I will do next.
But I can get a chiptune upgrade overhere at decent price (350 Euro) which includes 2 dyno runs and estimated 8HP increase, I forgot about the torque. It just won't be the best bang back for the buck since I will stick with a NA engine and stock internals.
The reason for my lengthy question is that most people will tell me not to get the upgraded ECU since it's a bad investment. But after reading about TP and Nistune and all sorts of neat things I'm willing to spend a maximum of $650 for the programmable ECU/software and that I can control the ECU behaviour.
So I understand it is not the way to go but getting a turbo is pretty much out of reach and will be for a long while, I prefer a VE anyway and settle for 200HP or so and I take in consideration that the upgrade I'm looking for will work on the VE.
Please let me know where I should look first.
