No problem, where are all the ELECTRICAL questions???

I've got an electrical question. Is it possible to wire a b15 airbag to work in a b14? Got a project i'm working on.

Yes, anything is possible if you have the ability and resources.

TP stands for Theoretical Pulse width. It is a value calculated using the input from many sensors, some other variables a look-out table and possibly a constant or two. It is supposed to represent how much fuel the engine needs at any particular moment. I believe if you logged the TP readings as you did a pull on the dyno the TP values would closely match the HP curve.
If you want to read more about it Vadim likes to give poeple this link: http://www.plmsdevelopments.com/files/nissan_ecu_tuning_basics.pdf

I also like this one: ECU Tuning

Our forum member dfddfd2 is also intimately familiar with the calculations of the TP value and how it is used in the ECU.

Whoa.

Dan, can you recommend me a aftermarket ECU/daughter board or Apexi or anything else for me? I'm not going to turbo my car, rather put a VE in it and thats a long term future plan.

I'm looking for controlling how my car handles and since it's a DD I also want it to get a decent fuel economy when driven like everybody does and of course the extra power I could get out of it interest me also (and at WOT I care less about fuel)

I own this car for 6 months now and finally got it in a good shape engine wise and next time I will get a 2.5" header, I'm not sure on the intake yet and I also learned I would like to get a different intake cam (but no means/knowledge/tools to pull that one off yet) After that I'm not sure what I will do next.

But I can get a chiptune upgrade overhere at decent price (350 Euro) which includes 2 dyno runs and estimated 8HP increase, I forgot about the torque. It just won't be the best bang back for the buck since I will stick with a NA engine and stock internals.

The reason for my lengthy question is that most people will tell me not to get the upgraded ECU since it's a bad investment. But after reading about TP and Nistune and all sorts of neat things I'm willing to spend a maximum of $650 for the programmable ECU/software and that I can control the ECU behaviour.

So I understand it is not the way to go but getting a turbo is pretty much out of reach and will be for a long while, I prefer a VE anyway and settle for 200HP or so and I take in consideration that the upgrade I'm looking for will work on the VE.

Please let me know where I should look first.

I would save your money and get the rest of the bolt-ons first, then do the VE. After that I would invest in a NisTune board. Hopefully by then I will have something out on the market that will suit your needs and your budget.

With JWT and Calum ECU's they are just replacing the EEPROM with another one that has the important memory address locations overwritten, right? What kind of language do you use to program these EEPROMs? If you're just replacing the EEPROM what is the importance of having an entire daughterboard then? What other components are necessary? Is it because it is difficult to integrate the new EEPROM into the stock ECU board?

Do you have a strategy you implement when you're starting a street tune from the beginning? Knock down the timing and load up the fuel? Is there a way to calculate a theoretical value of timing and correct fueling and start from there? What exactly is the K value?

I've never opened up a JWT ecu, but in general you need a daughterboard so you can have user available memory. I don't think the factory boards in these cars have the ability to flash the on board chips. Code can range from assembly to higher level stuff like C.

Once you have tuned enough cars you get a "feeling" for timing and fuel. I populate a map, and adjust accordingly.

im new to this hole nissan crowd but im just looking to be pointed in the correct direction for ecu tuning. can i tune to stock one? im going to be running a sr20de longblock lowport with a custom turbo kit on about 11lbs of boost to start off. thanks

You can purchase a NIStune add on which will allow you to tune the factory ECU.
