Hey guys, so here's what I came up with.
So I found it hard to believe you couldn't load any bin you wanted without getting it flashed like you would a JWT or EFI ECU so I did some reading and started messing around with the Nistune Software. Since we can't just download any bin on the ecu at any time, why not modify the base tune to be exactly like the tune we want? Well that's what I did.
1. First, you want to download the Map from the ecu you will be using. To do this, click on the red circle I have in the picture. It will give you two options, Upload from the ECU to the program or download from the program to the ECU(I think thats what the other one does. Anyways, you want to upload from the ECU to the program. In the picture above, pretend that the "Main" box that says B14 SR20VE VE INJ DE MAF is your map from your ECU. I forget what it actually says but you'll know.
2. Now that you have the Base Maps you will be modifying, you need you need to open the Maps you will be using to modify the Base. In the picture above, it's B14 VE DE MAF N1 CAMS. I will be modifying the Base Maps to have the same values as these Maps. To open it, click on the button I circled in Pink. (NOTE: Make sure you have checked the compare box I circled in yellow. Sometimes Nistune doesn't let you compare after you check that box, I just close Nistune and try again. Works every time.)
3. Now you should have the two Maps to compare. The Primary Mixture Coefficient will always show the "Main" values and the actual map shows the compared values.
4. To copy the Bin values onto the 'Bin' you are loading onto the ECU, click the Copy button I circled in Purple( I hope you guys aren't color blind). It will open a window that will ask which values you want to copy over. On the bottom it has a Select All tab. Then it has an option whether you want to Copy from the Main to the Compare or from the Compare to the Main. Obviously we want to . copy from the Compare to the Main, so check that and click okay. It will then copy everything over.
**If you have any revisions you would like to change on the Modified bin that will be going on the ECU do them now (ei. Changing Rev Limiters, Speed Limiter, etc.)
5. After everything is the way you want, I would double check by checking and comparing the values manually just to make sure everything was transferred correctly.
6. Now you are going to be burning the the New Modified bin onto the ECU. Click the BURN button I circled in blue. It will ask if you are sure blah blah blah, click yes, and it will download the New Modified bin onto your ECU.
I used this method to get a VE bin onto a Type 4 Realtime board for a '95 B14. The Daughter board was sent over with the stock DE base and I needed a VE base. Let me know how this works for you guys. I hope this get's more people buying the Nistune boards!!! Awesome software!
