TunerCode is a package that includes 3 main parts:

1) The firmware, which is the program that runs on the ECU, is in the TunerCode bin file and contains many modifications to the stock programming to implement the functionality described on the tunercode.com web page, and also posted in the forum by Cliff. Also part of the bin file is the data that is used by the program to operate the engine. This data is also called the "tune", as it is modified to tune a specific engine.

2) The software, which runs on the PC, used by TunerCode is TunerProRT V5. The TunerCode package includes the XDF file TunerProRT needs to modify the tune data in the TunerCode firmware, and the ADX file TunerProRT needs to communicate with the TunerCode firmware for data logging.

3) The TunerCode package also includes documentation which describes in detail how all of this works together. It explains all of the tables, maps, and constants (scalars) in the tune data, how they work, and what happens when they are changed. There are no "unknown" tables in TunerCode. It removes all of the myths and misunderstandings about tuning Nissan ECUs, including the values in the fuel and timing maps and what they mean, the K constant and how changing that for different injector sizes is misunderstood, The MAF VQ table and what it means and how it works, TP (theoretical pulse) is defined, along with it's relationship to the K constant and MAF VQ table, etc....

Matt and I have discussed implementing TunerCode features for Nistune and my plan is to proceed with that when I have TunerCode completed for the S13 and B14.

I think you miss the point. Tunercode is meant to work with an open firmware daughterboard.

Only the RT version 2 is open. The RTV1 and basic board does not have the physical board archetecture to allow the firmware to be changed through Tunercode and laptop.

edit: Dave posted before I did.

Dave, is it not the case? Tunercode was develope in conjuction the RTV2 and so it won't work with the basic board and RTV1.

This is not correct. The TunerCode firmware will run on any16bit daughter board, including Nistune's daughter board. You just can't program it onto a Nistune daughter board without having the Nistune Base Image Programmer. This is because the hardware architecture of the Nistune boards is different from Calum's RT boards. You may not even be able to do this anyway because Nistune may depend on the bin file being in .ENT format to program on the Nistune board. Another incompatibility is that even if you program TunerCode onto a Nistune daughter board, you do not have real time tuning capability. You would have the TunerCode features and data logging, but you would have to remove the board and reprogram it using the Nistune Base Image Programmer every time you wanted to make a change.

TunerCode was developed originally for the 8bit S13 KA24E ECUs and is currently running in my friends ITA 240SX. After meeting Calum at last years SR convention at Roebling, TunerCode was then developed for the B13, including support for the then new Calum RTv2 features. However, TunerCode is fully functional on RTv1 and basic boards. TunerCode does not depend on RTv2, RTv2 depends on TunerCode to fully utilize its additional I/O capabilities

heres my .02, if i were dave i'd be workin with nistune along with calum, Why? Because they're an actual business, plus they have the support ect... not to mention people with nistune are tuning z31's z32's an skylines an all kinds of stuff.. what do most people use calum ecu's to tune? b13s/14s an 240sx's i think alot of people could benifit from them workin together..

(an im not sayin he should cut off calum, just sayin he should Also work with nistune)

thats my .02 hope no one takes offense, not tryin to start a brush fire..

Saying " instead of " has a negative connotation to it, IMO. There's nothing wrong with making tunercode available for both Nistune AND Calum, seeing how people use both to tune with.

Also, how do you get tunercode Dave? I went to the link in your sig but didn't see anything

I edited my previous post to include the follow:

You may not even be able to do this anyway because Nistune may depend on the bin file being in .ENT format to program on the Nistune board.

I stand corrected, thanks for the clarification.

Yea, I'm way behind on the marketing side, sorry about that. Send me an email ( dave(a)tunercode.com ) and I'll reply with ordering info.

Thanks,
Dave
