Need to hear from those that POSSESS a Nistune ECU, or have worked heavily with one. No opinions are needed at this time, just facts.
I sold my Calum R/T rev.0 a little while back, because I was going to purchase an AEM. Downside to an AEM is that I need to be able to pass OBD II diagnostics.
I am seriously interested in a Calum R/T rev.2 but it's rather difficult to contact Calum as of late. I'm more than happy to throw money in his direction, but it doesn't seem likely at this time. I know that the rev.2 boards are being produced, but if you can't buy one they may as well not exist.
With the above being said, I'm becoming more interested in the Nistune. I don't know much about it, though. I need to know if they're as scalable as the rev.2 board from Calum is. FWIW, the rev.2 board can disable functions in the FIRMWARE, such as the o2/egr/etc. I'm tired of running the car with error codes that even resistor mods can't "fix". I need the ECU to not even look at these sections so that nothing comes up as "not ready" when the OBDII test at an inspection station is done.
Previously with the rev.0 R/T, resistor mods didn't "hide" the rear o2, egr, or evap systems, so I failed with 3 codes. I'm told the rev.2 board defeats needing the resistor mods which is good news. Can a Nistune board produce the same results?
The only thing that would hold me back from driving the car daily is this. I'm sure everything else meets safety standards for MD.
Thanks in advance.
PS - If you LIVE in MD, please give me an update as to what's going on with the emissions/yearly tests that are being done. My friend with an 04 bimmer stated that they only did a two speed test with a tailpipe sniffer. I would assume that they were SUPPOSED to do an OBD2 scan, but if they're not doing that anymore, I can just go back to a B13 ECU with a stepdown harness and be done with it.
