Nistune owners chime in
Need to hear from those that POSSESS a Nistune ECU, or have worked heavily with one. No opinions are needed at this time, just facts.

I sold my Calum R/T rev.0 a little while back, because I was going to purchase an AEM. Downside to an AEM is that I need to be able to pass OBD II diagnostics.

I am seriously interested in a Calum R/T rev.2 but it's rather difficult to contact Calum as of late. I'm more than happy to throw money in his direction, but it doesn't seem likely at this time. I know that the rev.2 boards are being produced, but if you can't buy one they may as well not exist.

With the above being said, I'm becoming more interested in the Nistune. I don't know much about it, though. I need to know if they're as scalable as the rev.2 board from Calum is. FWIW, the rev.2 board can disable functions in the FIRMWARE, such as the o2/egr/etc. I'm tired of running the car with error codes that even resistor mods can't "fix". I need the ECU to not even look at these sections so that nothing comes up as "not ready" when the OBDII test at an inspection station is done.

Previously with the rev.0 R/T, resistor mods didn't "hide" the rear o2, egr, or evap systems, so I failed with 3 codes. I'm told the rev.2 board defeats needing the resistor mods which is good news. Can a Nistune board produce the same results?

The only thing that would hold me back from driving the car daily is this. I'm sure everything else meets safety standards for MD.

Thanks in advance.

PS - If you LIVE in MD, please give me an update as to what's going on with the emissions/yearly tests that are being done. My friend with an 04 bimmer stated that they only did a two speed test with a tailpipe sniffer. I would assume that they were SUPPOSED to do an OBD2 scan, but if they're not doing that anymore, I can just go back to a B13 ECU with a stepdown harness and be done with it.

Emmission testing are pretty strict in MD. As far as I am concerned, anything with OBD 2 is required to have a plug in test, and if any codes are present, Good luck, as they dont do a rolling road test.

I am also very curious about this..............lets keep this up there

Tek keep mind mind that they don't have a B14 board yet. That will start happening after the B13 development is done.

You will be able to put TunerCode on Real Time V1 too, so if you pick one of those up you should be fine.

I have 0 codes, I don't have a CAT, EGR, or anything evap. My Real Time does have rear O2 delete and EGR delete, but that alone didn't keep the lights off.

For EGR I connected all the sensors to the harness and left them just hanging there.

For Rear O2 I had a complete delete, but that didn't work too well. Thus I put an inline resistor into an old broken O2 sensor and haven't had a code since. You will need to just screw it into your piping to make it look "official".

Are you ****tin' me?! I shouldn't have sold the rev.0 board then, DAMNIT!

Oh well, looks like I'm in the market for another damn realtime if I can get my hands on one.

I thought Nistune had realtime boards for b13/b14? Type 5 or something?

They do have b13 boards. I believe they are type 4. Bluerb240 knows more, you should pm him.

I'm not sure if it will work with Rev.0, but I'm sure they will try to get it to work. I mean if TunerCode will work on Basic ECU's then why not on Rev.0? Just the V2 lets you have couple new nifty options, which I would love to have. Like it will be possible to get ECU controlled boost etc.

I too am strongly considering the NISTUNE setup for my VE project as I haven't received a single response from calum in the months that I have been trying.
