Benefits from a JWT ECU?
Guys, I thinking of getting a JWT reflashed ECU for my application, but I'm not sure if I will see noticable gains. I have:

-cai
-header with 2.5" downpipe
-VRS 2.5" exhaust (coming soon)
-UR 4 piece pulleys
- fidanza flywheel
-S4 cams (coming soon)

With the addition of a JWT ECU, would it be worth the money for one? I assume I would get the POP charger program and cam program.

it's worth it, but are you going to reprogram it as you go at a hundred bucks a shot? the only thing that is really going to benefit from it is the cams. mite i suggust a calum ecu from the other forum that starts with sr20?

I'd get the ECU after the cam install. Calum ECU's are cool, but require alot of tuning knowledge that I don't have. And dyno time.

Well with a Realtime I think you can just use someone else's tune maps. But that is the same reason I am considering a JWT ECU

I would pm Calum. His knowledge amazes me.

you dont have to tune the ecu if you dont want to, but you should want to....

with a simple bolt on application like yours, with s4's, its a very very common program. one that has been tuned by a lot of people already. so you could likely drive with the program as is. you might be leaving some hp on the table, or some fuel going out, but it wont be much.

as for realtime using others maps....all can use others maps. there is no difference in the roms you put on either ecu. its just that the realtime is easier to tune with. and the fact you dont need a moates chip burner.

as the usual comes down to...do you just want to put a new ecu in to say you have a 'tuned' ecu then get a jwt. if you want to do it yourself...get a calumsult. but remember with a calumsult you are able to do whatever you want. if that scares you...or makes you smile...thats your decision

So let's say that I decide to get a calum ECU. Would I see noticable gains, say 5+whp, with a tuned ECU?

Adam got a calum and hasn't touched it, just runs it with an SAFC and seems to have no problems. And mac gained 2hp with the JWT ECU. The green is before and the red is after.

I think a SAFC helps it there

I second everything Bowlcut said about the Calum ECU.

I'm thinking that the SCC SR20DE Cam article ran the JWT S4s with the stock ECU and with the JWT ECU. This is the comparison that you are looking for. Does anyone have access to that article any more?

The JWT ECU raises your idle to smooth it out with for the cams -- that's worth something. In general, the cams like less timing, so the benefit from advancing the timing with the ECU may be reduced. But then fueling may be more critical. Anyway, it would be worth looking at that cam article if you can find it.
