I believe depending on the load scale of the map there will be negative numbers in the high load low rpm, points of the map that can never be reached. I know on my map from like 500rpm to 1500rpm and starting at like 300kpa to 420kp there are negative numbers in that area of the map mainly due to if it ever hit that much load thats what timing would be at that low of an rpm. But its impossible to hit that much load at that low of an rpm. The base maps are fine to start with for timing. Just start working through the map until you see the best gains without any pinging/detonation. Best to use a dyno to see the actual gains or losses.

Yeah usually all motor timing keeps rising the further you get to redline. Has a steady upward rise in timing.

Turbo is different You will have a lot of timing down low to help spool time and response, then timing will drop as you reach peak torque, then after peak torque timing will gradually come back up again getting higher the higher in the rpm band you go.

Basicly the faster the engine rpm the more timing to you need to get a proper burn.

From what ive seen and tuned, n1's like around 32-33 deg timing up top, any more will start to lose and any less will lose. Again this can really depend on the setup though, intake manifold, how good of a header you have and so on.

I think you misunderstood what I was getting at.

With bigger cams, you are able to get more air in, you make the engine more efficient. More efficient the engine is, the less timing you need.

Bumping this to remind myself to finally post up my own turbo timing map as it has stood the test of time and I'm finally comfortable that it is safe.

Can everyone see the current timing maps fine? There was a bug with the old forum where only members on my friend list would be able to see the images.
