Boost Controller
Is there a boost controller that can use different setting for each gear without going stand alone? I would like to have my boost come om progressively so I can get some traction and possibly lengthen the life of a b13 trans.

I belive the Apex-i AVC 2nd gen do that.

I know there are boost controllers you can get that will do boost by gear (speed and rpm info), so you don't need stand-alone. I'm not entirely up on my boost controllers, but HDI sells a terrific controller for about $135 here. Just as good as some $500 or $600 controllers. I don't know if it does boost by gear though.

Then again there is the $850 wonder:

NLR AMS-1000 which I'm pretty sure does boost by gear.

850 is a little steep. I guess I'll do some searching around and see if I can find anything.

So if you are even considering getting a $400+ controller....and what have you spent on your management? $500? I still wonder why people don't just get an AEM then. You have already spent almost as much and you get a 2-step, boost per gear, and much more.... But the AVC-R does do boost per gear also....

I actually haven't spent anything on management yet. I am going to run a w10/11 in a b13. I would prefer to run a calum realtime ecu. The real problem is I have a sr16ve trans already, which isn't optimal for boost, and I can't find any b15 or p11 trannys for sale.
So I thought maybe I could just run my 16ve trans with low boost in the frist few gears and gradually turn it up. Then maybe I could get some traction and still have a pretty fast car also saving my trans. Any thoughts on this?

That's what I plan on doing with my B13 transmission to keep it together. I can't do boost by gear with my EMS though, so I'll do boost by rpm/throttle position. Just keep torque below 250 ft-lbs or so but still make power up top.

I dont think I have enough control to do it by throttle response lol. I like to smash the gas down.

I have seen the AMS 1000 its 1 of the best for fwd ( I need to get one)
I have the avc-r its works pretty good you can set boost by rpm with more or less feeback or start duty its just perfect and chaep for a fwd car... I got pretty much all the traccion with this boost controller plus a good susp and tyres.
cheers.

The avc-r sounds pretty good I might just run that with a calum ecu.
