Thread: 9.5:1 vs 8.5:1

i have a jim wolf ecu with a turbo program for 9.5:1 i recently used it on my 10:1 motor with a turbo and it ran fine... now i have a 8.5:1 det. what would the ecu change with diferent compresion ratios ? would it just be timing ?? or maybe even air fuel.

Main difference would be timing. More advanced timing on lower compression tunes.

You have to be very very carefull running 8.5 comp tuned ecu on a 10.1 motor.
I would lower the base timing 3 degrees.

I think he's trying to do sort of the opposite.

I'm thinking it might run the same way my DET runs on a stock ECU. CRAPPY. The car idles harshly, stalls all the time, and to start it you have to crank it for a minute with gas pedal at WOT

i would agree its going to run like crap.
but i just need it to run until i can get a calum.

the car ran great with 10:1 pistons on a 9.5:1 tune... hopefully itlll be fine.

It should run, mine has been running while im waiting for my calum. Gas mileage sucks and performance could be better, but it drives.... fast....
