SAFC 2 Talk...
Well im currently without a wideband, but i need the basic settings for the safc 2...

its a w10 with a gt25r turbo, stock boost, greddy type rs (non recirc)

its rich as hell but i want to wait till i have a wideband to start messing with that too much.

what im wondering

what do i need to set to get the car running well?
i heard the hotwire was 6 in 6 out, works fine so far.
any other opinions?

im also wondering about the hi and low throttle settings

anyone care to chime in on there settings, explainations, more info???

Thanks much

Ok, first, do your car Idle? If so the rest of your settings are fine.
And it's 6in-6out for DE mafs.

The Hi and Lo's I wouldn't mess with until you get a Wideband or something that can Data log your A/F run by the RPM's So you can adjust you A/F accordingly.

That's pretty much to it.
Besides Flap and pressure there isn't much else you should be messing with on the SAFCII..

did you hve a Wideband? or have you not gotten one yet? just wondered if you knew what your Air fuel ratios were to start with?

no wideband is on its way...

what im wondering is when i do start tuning it, what are the a/f ratios i should be aiming for...

like at idle?

i know WOT is supposed to be 11.4 but is this easy to obtain with just the safc and tuning time?

Don't you always want to shoot for 14.7? I thought so but I never understood why the generally accepted turbo ratio is 12:1.

i have had my air fuel ratios up to 17.x.

there really isnt a ''acceptable'' air fuel ratio at idle as it really varies from one build to another. when i had my car tuned. it was tuned with the idle in the red at stock which is like 17.x the reason why its acceptable to be more lean at idle is becuase there isnt a load on the engine.

personally leaner condition altho wont hurt the engine at idle does seem to give you a more rough idle and makes the exhaust sounds more aggressive, this is only bad becuase if you have a higher idle setting becuase of camshafts it will be louder than you will care to hear. and annoying.

12:1 at WOT is ''ideal'' for MAX power. altho i dont recomend it unless you have it dyno tuned and run colder plugs

11:x is more ideal for a safe yet powerful WOT air fuel ratio. it depends on the tuner at hand where they feel the WOT air fuel ratios should be. more lean is better for power, more rich is better for safety.

as for the ''dont you want to shoot for 14.7'' yes you do but it depends on if you have control over the air fuel ratio mixture, mostly the reason the air fuel ratio is suggested for 14.7 loop is becuase its a stoich mixture that is neither too lean or too rich.. it gives you a more smoothe idle than being too lean.

my personal air fuel ratio now is around 14.7-15.4 i feel its pretty much perfect, when my air fuel ratio was at 16.x-17.x the idle was too rough, as running aftermarket camshafts, lean air fuel mixture, higher idle (1400rpm) and a side exit, it was just too aggressive and too loud.

if i were you i would adjust the air fuel ratio untill the idle is as smoothe as possible without getting too rich and staying away from the leaner conditions.

be it that you are also tuning on a piggy back, i would stay in the 11.x at WOT it will be idealistic. stay in 14.7-15.x at idle... i know i have repeated myself a few times altho the same numbers i have said pertain to different aspects of idle or wot

yep, thats my thread.... alot of what i was asking i was just trying to reconfirm. its odd becuase my air fuel ratio problems were actuall being contributed to the PCV,AAC,ICV. after cleaning those thing my air fuel ratios were like they were before

My main question is why 12:1 for WOT? Do you risk knock if you run leaner than that? (I don't really see an answer to that in the thread you posted)

Also by WOT do you mean ONLY at WOT? Or at a high throttle setting (I'm thinking the latter..)

Edit: Nvm, I think I'm just going to do a bunch of reading on the subject.
