Do consult devices still work ?
Quick question here, probably a straight forwards one but i haven't seen it covered as the consult LCD type devices don't seem to be very common in the USA and wanted to be sure.

I know that with some 'other boards' that intercept the consult data that the consult port will no longer be functional.

Using a NEMU board, does the consult port still work if i want to use my ECUTalk Consult LCD unit while the car is running normally ? Or would i have to disconnect the internal consult connection to use it?

Cheers.

nemu just taps into the existing consult right at the ecu, not positive why it does though, cause nistune doesn't, however the 2 boards are very different.

you Should be able to use the existing port for consult, tho i haven't tried.

no the consult port no longer works with nemu, and I'm not sure if nemu requires its consult connection to operate properly or if it only uses it for logging purposes. a quick email to john or moates support would get you an answer to that

....phone....

If you disconnect the consult port connector (3 wires soldered to ECU pins) from the NEMU board, you can connect your consult cable and it will work with V5N, however you will not be able to data log with NismotronicRT. You must disconnect the consult cable and reconnect the consult connector to the NEMU board to data log with NismotronicRT.

Note that the consult protocol is NOT supported in the new SA version. (Don't worry, consult functionality will still be supported by NismotronicSA.)

Cheers,
Dave

Need clarification on the consult. With Nismotronic can the ecu still do self diagnostic, pull fault codes from ecu or perform Active Test?
