I did have issues with getting the cams to switch. I used the AIV and EGR outputs, unticked the flags unders sensors in misc ( this is in Nismotronic by the way), and then set rpm as triggers and set to 2000rpm and rev'd in neutral, and no change in the outputs.

Any ideas?

I left speed, load, and temp at the stock values.

So apart from the cam switching (i'm gonna use the MSS) everything worked OK on the VE ECU???

Tunercode won't work on a ve ecu as far as i can tell, i'm using a p10 ecu. I'm hoping that the ecu i have has the same layout as the b13 ecu the tunercode is trying to control. Will do some more testing today.

Sry I misread your post. You only used the word VE engine. My bad

TunerCode doesn't currently support VE ECUs. Your version of TunerCode supports the following P10 ECUs:

91-93 Infinity G20 P10 SR20DE Manual
ECU Part Nos: 62J00, 62J01, 77J00

Thanks Dave, I'll have to check as i might have grabbed a N14 GTI ecu, which ive found works on a stock bin file, but might have different address for the outputs in tunercode.

What other ecus can you code tunercode for?

I havent driven the car yet, but a ve engine only needs a VE maf and injector size and the rest of it is just a tune. I figure since im using tunercode, onboard cam switching is a given, and no external device required since tunercode can do more control than a MSS.

Mss is also getting a bit hard to find now, i think they have stopped making them, and last time i saw a new one for sale retail it was over $300nzd.

All currently supported ECUs are listed on the web site About page:
TunerCode

Absolutely, you can run a VE engine with a DE ECU and TunerCode with Programmable Outputs to control the VVL much better than any RPM activated switch.

Ok, just checked thru all my ecu's, i have 2 that definately came from 1991 P10 manuals, and they are 53j01 and 53j00. Im not sure what the one in my car is as it does not have the original top cover, i might be able to use consult program to get the ecu code, need to plug in and see.

I also have 2 ecu's from N14 GTI, which other wise run tunercode no problem, and are 75c05 and 58y01, both of these i removed from the cars myself.

I havent tested the 2 p10 ecu's yet to see if tunercode will activate the outputs, waiting to hear from Dave what ecus can be suitable for tunercode. I guess i just assumed that tunercode was generic enough to handle most similar ecu's and didnt realise there was too much difference.

Rats.

GTIR is prob the only ecu out of that list that i will be able to find around here, they must have used totally different ecu's on the USDM p10s from JDM.

Is there any way to make it work on the 53j ecu?

Ok, consult only tells me the rom file that is loaded to the daughter board, will have to move the jumper over and see what the factory rom file is.....

So it turns out Tunercode is useless for anything outside of USA, as it has only been developed for USDM ecu's.

The basic documentation of the tunercode page does say which ecu's it is for, i just didnt realise it was that specific when i paid for it.

Still, it seems to run the basic functions of the ecu. I assumed that as the USDM bin files will run a p10 ecu ok, that tunercode with. Assumption is the mother of something, so there you go.

Since i got Tunercode ive told heaps of peeps locally about it, and im hoping i can tell them my findings before they decide it looks good i guess.

Sorry to rag on your product Dave, it is great, but its not able to work for me.
