There wouldn't be a problem tuning the car with the OBD1 conversion and just popping the OBD2 ecu back in there for inspection.

I have the same regulations you do and I got my car to pass inspection (Honda) with stock injectors, stock map sensor, stock O2 sensors. This was all on a built 2L engine with pro 1 cams, being ran by a stock Integra LS ecu.

So this definitely can be done if you take the 30 minutes to convert everything back to stock to pass emissions.

Yeah, all of this can be saved by just making a obd I to obd II jumper harness.

Funny because I live really close to a guy who has made these jumper harnesses from OBD I to OBD II before for local customers.

The next trouble is finding a Calum OBDI Ecu, in Real Time flavor

Get an ECU chipped and buy a Moates burner. A little more of a pain but works just the same. How often are you really changing your tune?

I know the JWT is no where near Tunercode but if people want to stay OBDII then thats what they get. I went OBDI and glad i did. When i get the VE in this winter i will be getting Tunercode without hesitation.

Please do not convince Dave that B14 Tunercode isnt worth it and have him just say get an OBDI ECU and adapter harness and be done with it.

I would go that way if I didnt already have an OBDII Calum RT.

How does nistune get away with it and TunerCode does not?

It is NOT the same thing.

Nistune is hardware that adjusts table values... TunerCode is completely revamped firmware. By even touching the firmware he violates tamper laws.

Once again, I know nothing about the electronic stuff and no one said that is why they are different to begin with.

But, now, I know the difference! I learned more things about the electronic stuff again!

TunerCode is like a full standalone and Nistune and JWT are not. They allow table values to be adjusted, only Nistune is open about it and JWT is not.

Is the above a fair evaluation? This is how I can relate it in my brain. Correct me if I am wrong, please. I only desire to learn.

No way man, I can change the tune 10 times in a day. For a person that gets a base tune running and is happy with it, it's fine. For me on the other hand, it's far from good enough. Good luck burning chips at the dyno too .




TunerCode basically rewrites the firmware, from the stock to a more modifiable form.

Nistune is like a Calum ECU, you get a blank ECU with a base tune, go have fun with it.

JWT you get a tune for a specific setup, you have to send it back to them if you want something new.
