Thread: Inexpensive tools you can't live w/o

Ball joint remover - used it for all kinds of shit not even balljoint related. $19.99 from princess auto regularly...and a pickle fork for everything else. nothing like beating your car with a hammer with good intention.

I also am a huge fan of gearwrenches, and the ever popular bench vice.

Tap n' die sets are a must, but these two are the most recent addons:

1) Right angle air drill (perfect for those hard to reach bolts inside engine compartments)
2) Easy outs (perfect to remove said hard to reach bolts)

its pretty awesome. does live date. comes with different connections for imports. codes that are dealer codes only can be found on the website. ive had it for about 3-4 years cost me about 350.00 if remember correctly. its pretty reliable. never had a issue, works all the time. works on power from dlc and it has a internal battery in it as well. never had to change the batteries.

i used it alot when i worked for jaguar and its just as good as IDS (Factory scanner)

no problem. just get one that can read live data. makes diagnosing vehicle so much easier. the thing i like about mine is that is doesnt have restrictions like most scanners. it reads everything that gives a signal to ecu. also can hook it up to a computer and download updates for free.

I don't remember which one I have... pretty sure its some cheap Chinese brand...single speed.

I think my best purchase (although not inexpensive) was my Snap-on 1/2 inch electric impact. It is so useful I am thinking of getting one in 3/8s too.

@ $75 or so, my Dewalt 4.5 in. 10amp angle grinder (w/ deadman switch) isn't cheap...but sure is used often!
