Aluminum racing exhaust for the Mt. Washington Sentra
In our quest to reduce yet more weight from my friend Tim's B13 Sentra, I built this all aluminum 2.5" exhaust system. The car no longer sees rally or road racing duty, only relatively short duration hillclimbs. And being naturally aspirated, EGT's are on the low side. I figured, "what the heck"....

The header is already longish at 36" primary tubes and a 12" collector plus a flex pipe. So the heat has greatly diminished by the time the aluminum exhaust comes into play.

I started by making some aluminum hangers. I used 5/8" aluminum round bar stock which I machined down to 12 mm at the ends to fit the OEM rubber hangers. A combo of washers and a bolt holds the metal hanger into the rubber hanger while reducing the swearing trying to fit the damn things into place like the factory stuff.

Here's the exhaust in full on the floor after welding: A few braces at the hangers have to be added still. We're using a Vibrant aluminum muffler.

Installed on the car:

I have thought about building a alluminum exhaust for my car for a very long time now. Someday I will.

It worked out better than I thought. Sounds decent, and we lost about 30 lbs in the process.
