Going to hold off on a tig. Not really needed for me now. Thought it would be cool to mess around on a cheaper unit but apparently its not worth it. Going to get a Lincoln or Miller mig welder for now. I'll try to get a tig sometime next year if welding tickles my fancy. lol

idk how much she is dropping on your sorry ass but this looks good haha

Thanks Alex, been abusing the machine for over a month, hands down in my own comparo w miller / lincoln ac/dc TIG pulse machines in the real world motorsports piping test from chromoly, dom, aluminum and titanium the AHP equaled or did better than high dollar machines.
Another plus is being able to use 110vdc which is more typical in a house than 220v unless you plan on doing fab work in laundry room ?

The Eastwood is a fine machine, but lacks features that are on the AHP an advanced user can run beads alll day and beginner to grow with skill. I have been helping local shops/ members with their fab work, trained some of them to weld, during the comparo I got their feedback and AHP was something everyone would want to buy and use. Some of the higher $$$ machines are being paid off since brand new they are $2500 - $6000, they wish they had known about this machine, as they have outgrown the Eastwood machine with vague range knobs w/o digital display, no pulse feature for AC work and overheat shutdown after welding for extended periods of time w. minimal time to cool down when doing cage work or when welding up intake manifolds where even a preheat needs 150A+ which will stress a machine.
The AHP AlphaTIG is currently the best bang for your buck.

Good to hear your input. I'll definitely look into one for the new year. It looks like a nice unit but not something i'll make my girl break the bank for for Christmas lol.

LOL. Ain't that the damn truth. I think the mig for now will take care of what I need. We'll see how quick I get bored lol

Kinda late but,I have an eastwood and it crapped out with 11-15 hrs at most of total use. Welds metals good and aluminum ok.
For the little use it received I'm pissed at the money in the garbage.
Going with a miller tig now to match my mig.

Ended up with a Lincoln 140 mig. Havent had the chance to really play with it. Finally have some gas for it so going to hook it up and try to get some scrap metal to play with and see how it does. Hoping it does ok for what it is. Eventually will get my hands on a decent tig unit.

Most definitely. It will be used for random odd jobs such as mufflers, test pipes, etc. Hoping it will be enough to get the job done. Ready for this damn cold spell to pass so I have motivation to actually do something haha.
