you will get it. takes a lot of practice for sure. try fusing pieces together to get your torch and peddle control down first. then after you master that start adding filler. on a tubing like that you wont need a whole lot of filler. that's why I suggest the thinner rod like .045 or even .035 308l.

getting a purge setup is deff needed. I run a smaller 80cuft straight argon with separate regulator when I do mine. a lot of guys run dual reg with one 300tank.

I use solar flux on big tubing that I don't wanna waste a shit ton of argon on.

works well.

Try tight fitting some stuff and making single passes with no filler and then making a second pass with filler. You're picking it up pretty quickly from what I see. Prep work is half the battle.

Working on my first piece. Started on this Downpipe for my car, only welded the up the 2.5"-3" part. I think I got the heat down and as long as the prep is good and it fits tight it seems pretty easy to weld together. Gonna weld up the rest later today, fits good though.

fitment looks very good. you want virtually no gap between pieces.

make sure you clean tubing with acetone then use ss wire brush to clean seams. also red scotch brite works good. then clean with acetone againg.

then weld!

I'm using the AHP alpha tig 200. I put a gas lens setup on and a #8 cup on the torch. Should I use a bigger cup?
