I've been using 3/32 but that shouldn't affect the cleanliness should it? You using red tungsten?

I use red for everything except alum, I use green on aluminum. 3/32" here as well with a #7 cup (most of the time)

I agree with turbotank on the stainless. I've welded quality stainless and it welds nice, but seems like every time I weld a set of "stainless" headers, it seems to get "ugly" "slaggy" welds (like the ones you posted). I say those in quotes, because there not really ugly or slaggy, just not what a TIG should be IMO.

I did some spool gun work tonight on a fuel tank and then extended a boom cradle on a boom truck. I am picking up a Honda Ruckus this weekend with a botched "stretched" job. Going to redo all of the welds, add some bracing. Also fabbing a custom fuel tank for it out of an old fire extinguisher.

Use a stainless steel brush and quickly brush the welds after your done welding. That will remove the outer burnt later and bring out the shine. Make sure you use a stainless brush though, if you use a non-stainless one it will suck up the corrosive components and rust eventually.
