Repair surface rust in your trunk!
This is pretty easy. I had surface rust in my spare well from the hole in the side. (See thread here) This puddled and sat for who knows how long and I finally am able to do something about it because before I was chasing my tail about it since the hole was still there.
Tools:
- Wire brush
- Spray paint can of Rust-oleum Rust Remover spray (or other equivalent)
- Mildy soapy water solution
- Towels
- Hand gloves
- Eye protection
Here is what I started with.
Here is halfway through. Note the difference.
Fully brushed and ready to paint.
First coat of spray paint.
Second coat a few minutes later. (As instructed by the can)
Let it sit for 24 hours to become fully dry and I will do as the can says and apply one final coat after those 24 hours elapse.
I hope this works! Now I gotta remove the spare and do this to the steel wheel.
I hope this helps someone for some quick, easy, do it yourself rust repair.
