Thread: 2022 National Convention - Munford, Alabama May 13-15

Hotel booked, so I'll be there whether I get the car finished, or not. I've got two questions:

1) Will there be a swap meet during the picnic?
2) Can I buy more waffle tickets before the picnic, or on the day of?

We weren't planning to have a swap meet on Sunday. We'll be at the Barber Museum. So it's not going to be really a "Picinic". We will be having our carshow and awards/raffle there. We're in negotiations with a caterer right now for the food and beverage. Stay tuned.

The best place for a swap meet would be the hotel parking lot. Saturday is a free day, so maybe a Saturday morning meet works? I can discuss the idea with other board members to see about putting it formally on our itinerary. If you'd like to get involved and help with coordinating it, that would be awesome. We're always looking for volunteers.

Yes, we'll be selling raffle tickets the day of the raffle. If you're looking for "waffles", I'd suggest going to the "house" for that....lots of butter, lots of syrup! :-P

They'll be a hard copy itinerary available when you check-in to get your lanyard. So at least you won't be totally in the dark. I'd suggest you network with people via text msg or something while the Convention is going on to keep abreast of the "who, what, where, whens" of the little side things people do.

I'm not a fan of FB as the main info platform, either. Is what it is, though. If anything major happens, I'll try and post something here.

Really wish I could've taken the race car. Biggest obstruction is amount of days to take off. Maybe next time.

I am so sad that I won't be able to make it this year. The dates fall on a time when I cannot take off from work. I really had fun there back in 2003 at my first convention! Have fun and be safe everyone! I will be watching Instagram for the pics!

Rooms are starting to be scarce. The rep at the hotel said they expect to be full very shortly. I'd suggest if there's anyone still on the fence you bust a move now. Use the link above to get the $139 rate. If you call, they going to tell you the rate is $200+.

Facebook murdered my messenger account for not being one of them and made me loop into the same screens that do nothing to "recover" my messenger account. I used to be able to read the responses, and then Facebook blocked replies. And then, they just removed me from ever viewing any conversation I had with anyone on there and I re-connected with a LOT of people. Pretty lame.

I cannot make it this year. Richard's right achilles snapped a few weeks ago and being post surgery he needs some help moving about. It does not help being 80 years old now but he wishes you and everyone else a fun time. God willing and with good health, we will be there next time.

I will miss everyone at the Convention, again, and almost nothing makes me sadder..... and that is the truth.
