I have some secrets. All they done was align the car and give me some more camber. I have the struts set up a certain way. I spent some time setting the car up-myself.

Yes, I watch my mirrors and if there is a faster car coming up, I let them through quick, I backed way off. <- to people who don't watch their mirrors!

He was very quick in the corners but no faster on the straight. We both hit about 125 going into the braking area for turn 1. I could stick until we hit the back side and that was about it!

...and we have a WINNER! I saw him slowly closing up since the middle of the back side of the course. By the time we hit the last turn, I tuck inside as much as possible, give up the faster line and chill.

When you have someone you see from earlier session's experience you know will run faster elsewhere on the course, you want to get OFF the fast line, drop off 20 mph and wave them through as quickly as possible. It's important to give up the speed, make the pass as safe as possible for the other guy, we're not racing. He carried easily +5-10 mph into the last turn, I lift off and let him through as quick as I can.

The alternative is I keep my foot in it, we drag race to the first turn with very similar power, and **** each other up. Now how fun would that be?

I've done a lot of passing lap track days, and nothing ****s things up faster than someone who has similar power who won't get the hell out of your way on the only section you are allowed to pass. I was out with ~20 350Z's for the ZCCA convention and a guy just wouldn't let me by, then he rode his brakes all around NHIS. When he got to the straight, he just held it down up to about 125, the last time he did so, he went to brake for turn one, the last I saw of him was him going off course onto the NASCAR oval, in a cloud of white brake smoke - he totally lost his brakes

Probably why I have such a ****-eating grin here

Thus the "SuperblackZ"

Now here's a guy you really don't want to see come up behind you, he took out a CP 260/280Z and was running in the advanced group, I look back and see his helmet, a pair of crossed checker flags, and...Steve Millen on the helmet. 3-time IMSA Camel GT Champ, gawd knows what else, I rolled the rest of the turns as clean and fast as possible and he just sat there one car length back, like a cat with a mouse. NHIS road course is tight and short on passing areas, maybe 3 good places to pass safely. Damn that was a fun car right off the shelf.

Nice guy though. I've rarely been so happy to let someone by, all I could think is I f'up now I take down two cars, one that costs a lot more than mine, and a famous driver to boot!

I replaced it with this, been pretty happy with it:

COBB AP, JWT clutch/FW, hotchkis sways, AAM plenum spacer, F/R STB's, JWT intake, a bunch of other small stuff, puts down an honest 265 NA whp which may not sound like a lot, but it works

DAMN I want another track day NOW

I voted for it, you deserved it.

Clean execution, well-considered choices, some things there that you don't necessarily see if you're not looking for them, either. I know it was a very close vote and I wouldn't be surprised if your green machine garnered a vote or two from anyone who saw it action out on the course Friday, a real statement how much bang you can get for its level of mods

Camber helps. My last alignment, I was given a choice between up to -2.5 driver with only -1.6 passenger, something about the bodywork interfering with the CO, not sure. Something's not right about that, because I know DC ran -2 degs on both sides, and I can't see any issue with the clearance on my passenger side. Since I wasn't there when it was done, I pretty much had to accept it for now. I also run zero toe front or darn close to it, and very little rear. The rear rotates great and predictably on autocross courses, where I've spent the last two years dialing it in for cone-dodging. I was less sure how my setup would fare at track speeds.

Filed that under "fix this soon" list because I opted for even camber and only ran -1.6 up front on both sides, not enough for higher speed stick. It works well for the lower speeds in autocross and gives me a flatter tire for better traction a lower speeds relative to the track on corner exit. For the track, I was wishing for that full -2.0 to -2.5 again both sides.

Progress CO's worked great, however my next set I'm waiting on now will bump up the spring rates and keep the same valving (fast rebound), from 350F/250R to 450F/350R. With moving to using NT01's from street tires (waiting on a second set of Traklites), I expect a lot better track grip on the higher speed corners.

Car chassis is stiffer now with additional bracing than when I bought it, the 350/250 is less suited to tracks like Poconos, NJ Motorsports Park, and Lime Rock, all have some sections that push the car hard, and just cranking up the sways to the point where you may as well have no ISR is not the solution, so moving up in spring rates after discussing with Progress what I wanted, that should do it.

Just have to decide if I can get my JWT C2's back in the car, the upper end DE power they provide is astonishing from 5500-7800 rpm.

Looking forward to two more track dates coming up in May, should have the changes in place and get to push things a little harder

^ Awesome Steve. I didnt know the C2s made that big of a difference. I have the Valve Springs and retainers. I guess I will buy some C2s.

With a lot of tuning at JWT, they came up with two profiles and set up a switch on the ECU, stock cams, plus two different C2 profiles. I still have those in my ECU, just not using them yet.

Our baseline is pretty similar for the stock cams, keeping in mind my current one is not the same motor - newer far less miles JDM 10:1 motor, so we'll see. IIRC these were done on a USDM Highport.

hp and AFR baseline

hp, torque baseline
