I bet the oil was just too thin in my engine for that kind of driving.

Another victim to the 10w30 crap

5 years? That's only as long as I had it, try all it's life, so more like 10ish . I wasn't cryin' over it because it did last this long, though it's bearings are fine so I have no idea what you guys say you heard. My rings and piston became one with the cylinder wall . No wonder she was over heating.

But whatever, time to make her faster, stronger, and a lot more fun.

I will try to get the carnage pics up soon, but no one hold their breath (those who konw me know how bad I am with taking and posting pics).

WOW.
This may be true in FWD SR20DE[T] world, but there's a whole 'nother world out there where engines happily take this abuse.[/QUOTE]

Ok I dont know anyone who has done bearings and the knock not come back eventually.

I know you are like to argue so I am not even gonna waste my time with you.
BUt that post is quite possibly the dumbest post I have ever read.
You name a motor that doesnt break and that takes abuse of 8k rpms and several track days that comes from the factory??? You have to think I have had numerous hondas, miatas, ford and chevys..

MOTORS BREAK!!! NO motor just takes a beating all day everyday. ALL MOTORS BREAK!

SO they dont break? Huh I guess I will call my buddy Stephen and ask him why he is putting a motor in his Porsche right now?
Wow I wonder why they sell rebuild kits for those motors?
You guys have to be kidding! Do you really think that there are motors that never break????

I figure every motor breaks at some point. Our SR20s may not be factory designed for a trackable car but they work.....

You know the best people to ask about all this is the current Se-R racers, and also the guys that used to race. The Se-R cup guys. They have the most experience with what goes on with the fwd SR20's in racing conditions.

I'm not sure how many of the racer guys have made it over to this forum. I think many stayed on the old forum.

This stuff is good to talk about though since It'll serve as information for future track prep.

So what has been cleared up so far. BenFenner wasn't rod bearing failure. Tekkie and CleanSe-R used 30 weight oil. Zero99 was a problem with the cylinder wall. Tekkie your car was not on track, correct? So its been narrowed down to CleanSe-R having bearing failure while track driving.

Chris101 mentioned 30 weight oil is used in the race car. That car would probably be the best car to get data from as it sees race conditions a lot more than the street cars. Oil analysis of the oil after a race weekend, and also oil temp and oil pressure data for the car during a race weekend would show how 30 weight performs during track driving. SeRacer what type of oil are you using on your car?
