Great shame this, so they were all Non-RR DE's that had the problem? I've done afew track days in mine and I've been ok...but I think the UKDM RR DE has the same oil pump as the VE?

I hope it's just the pump! at Steve 1 and Steve 2. Which one's which?

I'm curious now if maybe my pump was bad or something. I wouldn't think so considering I still had oil pressure, just not very much due to the oil being broken down.

I want to call this weekend the SR20 Massacre.

Luckily I didn't have any oil issues, but I will check today to make sure. I did have over heating to the point that the fans couldn't even do much, then O2 sensor went out thus driving home instead of getting a really rich mixture it was 15-17 cruising at 75mph!

This will teach me for not bringing an extra O2 sensor when I have 20 of them at home!

From what I had seen, they were all non-RR DE's or DET's. Not sure what pumps they were using. Mine is a VE pump on a DET block, and I still spun a bearing.

As an aside, does anyone know of a super good oil that doesn't break down as quickly as a synthetic would? I'm seriously thinking about switching to a conventional oil. When you drain your oil after 1600 miles, and had to throw 3.5 quarts in it over the course of 2 days, and it comes out like water, there has to be SOMETHING wrong with the oil you're using...

Call me stupid. I run 15w 50 Mobil One. I have used it for 6 years with NO problems. All my friend use it and have no problems. I think some of you guys running the 5w 30 are having problems. I love the heavy stuff. And before someone says it.... NO it doesnt have a problem getting the oil thru the oil squirters.

yeah its soo hard to say about the oil issue. My buddy in the turbo nx runs conventional oil with a good filter and it doesnt have problems at all. It seems as though everytime ive used synthetic oil that the problems begin, but then again there are times when i have no problems at all using synthetic. Im a big mobil1 fan for both the oil and filter. When used with both ive never had problems. I use the mobil 1 gear oil as well.

Its an interesting controversy. I wonder if it would be better if we used a good conventional 15w40 oil and a good filter and just change the oil more often to keep it from breaking down, You can see the difference in thickness when you drain conventional oil and when you drain synthetic oil. The conventional looks good while the synthetic looks like water. I know synthetic is supposed to coat parts with a film but it just doesnt provide much as far as cusion in my opinion. I guess its good for long term, long mean time between oil changes, and for regular driving but it would seem the conventional oil would provide more cusion especially for turbo applications and high hp uses. Hmm

hmm thats interesting, i cant recall seeing the mobil 1 15w50, i use the mobil1 10-40 just for the added thickness and since using that i havent had problems, I would definetly go with the 15w50 if i could find it. From what ive seen Autozone doesnt carry that weight mobil1 here where i live. Might have to look into it.

I always buy my 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 15w50 at walmart for 22ish bucks. I used once the 10w30 on my GTi-R but after 4 hours of driving the oil pressure went under 35, so I switched back to 15w50.

EXACTLY what happened to me. Drove not even 3 hours and oil pressure got pretty damn close to 35psi. Did NOT leave me warm and fuzzy.
