Thread: What would you like to see in Savannah

I know many of you have not been to savannah and don't know the lay out of the city. The hotel that you will be staying at is in pooler ga which is about 20-30mins from the downtown savannah area. Pooler is a growing area so there will be lots of places to eat but not that many bars. I almost bought a house there a few years ago so I know the area well. In fact my house would have been less than a mile from roebling. Many of the bars that you will want to go to are on river st in down town. Also note GA has no open container laws so you can walk and drink just don't drink and drive. Another cool place to drive is on the isle of hope which was part international race track(has some nice twistys).

river street is fun. I have not been down for st pattys day in a few years. chatham punch is killer. just watch out for the stairs they can be treacherous.

yeah a few people have taken a header down the steps at the far end of river street and died. I love that you can get a to go cup from the bars and walk to next one.

i been there before. I lived in Hunter Army Airfield for 3 years. we use to always go to river street. Specially for st patricks day. they would change the fountains to green water lol. I never did get to go on that white farri boat! i know what you mean bout the steps! crazy straight drop steps

I am going to see if some of the people want to make a quick trip to charleston since its such a nice drive up 17 north. It would be cool to get a pick of all the cars at the battery.

The fact that Savannah is virtually in my backyard I feel as I should chime in…

There is lots to do in Savannah. Pooler, GA where the Hotel is kind of blows - best bet is down town Savannah.
River St. is great but I think the really fun bars are on Congress St. it's a 5 minute walk/stumble over to them from River.
There are also the Titty bars just across the Talmadge on the SC side of the boarder. One is full nude BYOB the other is just topless but drinks are served.:o

The other option is Hilton Head Island (30 minute drive). Plenty of bars and Hotties running around and great beaches!
The places are a little classier then Savannah but are only about 60% filled that early in the season. May-September the bars on Hilton Head are PACKED and the outdoor places are great!
Tybee Island, GA... eh, it's more of a fun daytime beach town, not too much going on at night. Again, once it gets closer to summer then that Island gets packed too.

Trust me, there is plenty to see/do/drink in Savannah. For a smaller city you could easy spend a week there and never get board.

FYI St. Patricks Day in Savannah is pure Insanity!! I'd even go as far to say it’s a wilder time then St. Pattys day in NYC!!!

i havent been to tybee island in YEARS!!! DAMN i wanna go over there now! i was so little i use to always get excited when i saw that army FORT lol. we use to always go fishing in tybee. good times good times

Is that the punch that has something to do with Geo. Washington? I had some kinda punch the last time I was down there and it kicked my ass...probably why I don't remember the story behind it....
