It's always something last minute...
It's always something that needs last minute work. I beat the crap out of mine (with some substandard driving) at first autocross event of the season on Sunday, revealed a few more things needing sorting out. 38-40 deg at start time should have made me more cautious.
I sucked so badly that after a decent 4th run, next time out despite cooling temps, I got too aggressive, and spun a good 270 deg it on my 5th run, first time for
me with that car - although I did recover it, not miss a gate and was only 3 seconds off my best time for the day - with a spin to a sliding stop.
IIRC
Mr. Mike K has some off-course excursion time in that car, although he had the rain as an excuse (I plead cold ground, cold tires - < 70F tire temps
after a run!).
Ha ha, "rotating the car is simple" - no sheets sherlock...
here's the part I can relate to, note the last paragraph
Something to keep in mind if any of those 50% chance of showers materializes on Friday, you really have to ease up your speed even if it's a little wet.
But, sorted out the car for harder higher speed driving - my harness, brake balance, broke tires in real good, almost ready for a road trip.
Stupid SSAC clone header leaking again at the DP junction, replace or tighten down the gasket, replace some exhaust and cat hangers, oil change, check trans fluid, and whatever else - the night is young.
Then I think I'm finally almost good to go from CT to GA, do a track day on a new (to me) course, convention fun, and drive back to CT on Sunday/Monday. It's always this way whether the event is 2 hours or 16 hours away, something needs fixing at the last minute.
Solo Road trip!
