DOT is not the same thing as Snell. You can have a brand new DOT rated helmet that may not necessarily be Snell certified.

I've never been to a track day that allows a DOT-only certified helmet.

The other thing most tracks require that I've been to is long pants and possibly a long sleeve shirt. I always bring these items to the track, just in case. That also goes for people spectating/crewing in the hot pit. Not sure of Nelson Ledges rules, but better safe than sorry.

Got told at etown my DOT approved helmet is only good to 14sec runs but I can go over 130 on a streetbike and still be safe with it. I'm not picking up a snell approved helmet until I kicked off for it.

Seems like the type of track that wouldn't be checking snail ratings on helmets but you never know.
Just got word from Nelson Ledges that SA2000 or newer is good.

if they are allowing the sa2000 hemlets, some of the hardcore guys should have that helmet collecting dust as they need an sa2005+ for most other tracks...
