Thread: Metro atlantians: question about yield signs at stop lights

In the north metro area I notice that at almost all the stop lights there is a yield sign for right turns and then the oncoming traffic has a sign posted right next to the light that says if you taking a left you need to yield. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Who has the right of way if it's a green light in both directions? I didn't take driver's ed in Georgia.

The person making the left because they only yield to oncoming traffic, if they had to yield to the car making the right they would get caught out in traffic possibly causing an accident.

Wow... So the state thinks that its citizens are so dumb/drunk that they need a sign saying to yield at every goddam light to tell them not take a left into oncoming traffic when there is a green light? Please tell me that warning for left turners to yield on green means something else.

Sometimes I wonder what the hell they were thinking, you should try to figure out some of the parking signs in New York no matter how you cut it your going to get a ticket.

There are a lot of intersections in Atlanta where you can only turn left on a green arrow. I think the yield to oncoming traffic sign is there so people don't sit and wait for the green arrow. Besides, when you take your drivers' test in a parking lot, you need all the help you can get while on the road.
