Thread: Deal's Gap rally '08

Some of you guys might know me from the "non-dash" forum. I'd like to put together a Deal's Gap (aka Tail of the Dragon) rally, probably about mid-September. If you're not familiar with the area, it's the stretch of US-129 where it crosses from North Carolina into Tennessee near Fontana, NC. Probably the best driver's road in North America. It's kinda central to the Southeast and has plenty of accomadations (camping, cabins at Fontana Village, etc.). What I'd really like to see is plenty of B-series chassis, especially the NX's, but I guess we could allow the S-chassis and N-chassis guys along too . Let me know what interest looks like, feel free to email me with bright ideas.

When are we going?

Need a firm date to be sure there are no work conflicts. I would be an either a 91 NX, or my VE Classic if it's done. If the Classic is done, Kimme will be in the NX.

I'd rather drive my car on decent racetracks than the best roads.

i went down a couple years ago. it was amazing, but i've heard that the dragon is pretty highly patrolled recently.

any truth to this, Knoxville guys?

They patrol heavly on weekends andon holidays. I went on my bike with two other guys on bikes mid week in may last year. Not a single cop and we road that many of times.... And not easly at all..

If I get my front end bushings, tie-rods, new struts, tires, brake repairs, and exhaust upgrade then I will be driving a 200sx se-r otherwise we shall see....
