Back to stump #2.

This thing got chopped up in a matter of minutes. That was a nice change from the other stump that took two weeks to deal with.

You can't see, but in addition to the chunks of wood flying everywhere when I was swinging the axe, there were termite queens just popping up left and right.

All busted up and ready to clean up. This wood I just threw away. It was filled with bugs and wasn't going to be useful for much of anything. I didn't want it around my house.

Trashed wood and filling in the hole.

More sand and topsoil later. Plus grass seed, and a bit of time and watering.

The grass on the other section is coming up too. Hard to see but it is there.

And the divot is sprouting too.

That's all for the front yard work for now!

Depends on where you live. That wouldn't just get negative attention where I'm at, it would probably get you arrested.

I considered burning the first stump, but I did not for a few reasons.
It was basically all sap. I was afraid it would turn into a towering inferno with thick black smoke possibly for days. It was on the edge of my property and the neighbors might not be too happy about it. Also I still don't know the city's policy on open burning in your own yard.
Also I've been told by people I trust that it's possible to burn a stump and have the embers travel through the roots for days or weeks and then pop up and start a fire somewhere else when you're not looking.
Also I was not feeling too good, and standing plus physical exertion really took my mind off of the problem.
Also I could use the exercise.

Oh, and it turned out to be a great way to meet all the neighbors.

The second stump was rotting and wet. I don't think it would have burned anyway.

I don't see any pictures of your sister for the stump posts.

So Ben, have you just been sitting back there for the last two months waiting for someone to either catch on or complain?

Bravo, sir.
