Those are the old speakers we used with the projector. Those are likely going to end up in the garage at some point. We have some small, older Klipsch speakers (the two rear ones from a 4.1 computer setup) hooked up to the TV for now. No surround sound for us. =(

It's furniture time.

Using a piece of cardboard to see if this coffee table we want will be too big in the living room. It seems to work out fine. We wanted one wide enough with a drawer to fit a mouse, keyboard and some remotes inside.

Oh yah. And we've got this crazy rug from Katie's parents. Katie likes it. I'm indifferent.

I think I'm building the new TV stand? We'll see that in a bit.

We ended up getting pretty much everything from World Market. Not the thriftiest of options, but they had exactly what we wanted. Got their credit card and saved 10% on the entire purchase which worked out to be quite a bit of savings. We paid off the balance and cancelled the card within the first month.

I look pretty rough while assembling furniture apparently.

Miles is here to help.

David is watching from the foot of the couch.

The lower shelf had a crack in it. I returned it for a replacement at the store.

All done and everything fits inside.

The remotes on the table are for old stuff that's going in the attic.

The TV stand was the only thing we didn't get from World Market. We picked it up at Target I believe.
For this we needed it to be long enough not to look silly with a 42" TV on it. And I wanted space for a full standing media center PC (tower), along with regular spots for stereo receiver, Tivo, etc.

I'd planned on cutting access holes for the computer connections, but the computer tower is too deep for the door to close so we just had to cut a giant hole in the back.
Katie and I took turns with this tiny pocket knife saw I had until finally I went and bought a drywall plunge saw that did the trick.

Fear the huge saw blade.

Getting pretty sick of sawing.

Finally a decent saw.

Exhaustion fully setting in now.

Done.

It fits!

Don't ask me why I ended up with an IBM. It's a long story.

You can see the Tivo and Onkio receiver setup and some CDs or whatever behind the right door. I think Katie's watching MTV's Made?
Oh, and the little Klipsch speakers are there for now.

No good pics of it all setup. I wasn't really doing my job very well as photo-documenter.

We went with the "Madera" living room coffee table and living room end table. And we went with the "Chase" stuff for the bedroom. We are so middle-class white suburban family it makes me sick. =P

Crim, you're going to have to wait a little bit until I get good pics of the entire bedroom set. For now I just have a few boring pics to post.

We got two of the nightstands, two of the short/wide 3-drawer dressers, one of the tall/narrow 6-drawer dressers (down here they call it a "high boy"?) and the queen sized platform bed with headboard (storage drawers underneath). We basically picked out the bed we wanted, and just grabbed everything else that we needed from the same set because it was easy, and they would at least look okay together. It will be a very tight fit in the room, but we need the storage space and the full/double size isn't doing it for us anymore. We will have to live with it being a bit cramped.

Nightstands.

3-drawer dressers.

6-drawer dresser.

Katie unpacks like a pro.

My sister was over so I roped her into helping.

3rd piece of build-it-yourself furniture down. Six more to go?

The dark mahogany "chase" bedroom set to me has a heavy Asian vibe to it. I'll have pics of the whole thing and you can make up your own mind.

^^^ Me three.

House is coming along nicely man. When we first bought our house we got all our furniture from Sams club. They had some really nice stuff that was on sale because it was getting phased out. So we got a lot of dark mahogany bedroom set and living room set for cheap not to mention all the couches and stuff. I think we got everything we wanted from there which included a complete bedroom set including the matress and boxframe, a couch, loveseet and ottoman with foot rest, and all the other bits and pieces for around $3200. it wasnt cheap furniture either.
