To-Do List

Near Term (High Priority)

• Implement strike-through BBC. (S) (useful example 1, 2)
• Implement e-mail BBC. (EMAIL) (useful link 1, 2)
• Visually compress the enable emoji/signature/likes checkbox area (seen during post creation/edit).
• Implement chat room member display (shows who is currently "in" chat).
• Implement chat "System" messages (ex: So-and-so has entered/left the chat).
• Maybe implement chat message rate limiting per-user.
• Maybe display new-chat-message-count in the HTML title of the page if new messages arrive while the chat tab is open but not currently visible/active.
• Maybe play a chime sound if new chat messages arrive while the chat tab is open but not currently visible/active.
• Implement thread subscriptions. (useful link)
• Implement all-member list page (with sorting). (old URL example)
• Implement classic forum search.
• Implement member profile Basic Information creation/edit. (Currently just "Location".)
• Allow users to see and edit the e-mail address they have on file with the forum. (Find a good place for it.)
• Allow users to set a new password while logged in.
• Clean up the Terms of Service (TOS). It is a huge mess. (useful link)

Medium Term (Medium Priority)

• Implement avatar creation/edit feature.
• Implement page that displays all current Admins/SuoerMods/Mods. (old URL) (useful link)
• Implement page that displays all current Vendors.
• Finish implementing regional classified sections (as filtered searches). (useful link)
• Maybe limit usernames to disallow forum staff roles and many special characters. (useful link)
• Maybe implement "New Posts" for classified posts only. (useful link)
• Reorganize/consolidate the classifieds sections. (useful link)
• Maybe reorganize/consolidate the non-classifieds sections. (useful link)
• Maybe cache the home page in some way to reduce loading times. (Likely not needed if section reorgs take place.)
• Implement admin/mod tools as needed. (User Notes, infractions, post/thread deletion/movement, etc.)
• Finish implementing Forum Supporter feature. (useful link 1[/URL, 2]) (old URL)
• Implement "Send E-Mail" feature in member profile show page.
• Change submit button text during thread/post editing to actually say "Edit".
• Allow special characters/unicode/UTF-8 in posts. (ex: right-arrow character). (Preview allows, but filtered out after posting.)
• Finish implementing thread polls.

Long Term (Low Priority)

• Implement user settings (post-per-page, timezone, etc.)
• Display all dates and times based on user-selected timezone. (Currently everything is in EST.)
• Implement emoji picker for use during post creation/edit.
• Implement BCC formatter for use during post creation/edit.
• Implement photo uploading/album feature for Forum Supporters.

• Implement new chat feature (to replace old chat) with bare essentials. (1.7.0)
  

I've been working on the forum quite a lot lately, and it's finally time to put a list together prioritizing the work ahead. So here we are. It will be really nice not to have these constantly rolling around in my head anymore now that I've written them down.

As items get crossed off the list I will make posts (as usual) in the informal changelog thread here: Major Forum Changes Ahead

You're welcome to post in this thread as well if you'd like to add something to the list or discuss changing list item priority, etc.
I will be adding to and reorganizing this list a good bit in the near future as well.

Note: Many of the links in the list are to Staff sections of the forum so apologies not everyone can follow them.
