Yes, I've received this email as well.

Dear wildmane,

Someone has tried to log into your account on SR20 Community Forum - The Dash with an incorrect password at least 5 times. This person has been prevented from attempting to login to your account for the next 15 minutes.

The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address: 78.41.115.145

Cliché, I know, but make sure your password is strong. I like to use full sentences. They are extremely strong, yet easy to remember and type. They are very long, they automatically include capital letters and two different types of special characters (spaces and punctuation) and can easily include digits. They can also easily be tailored to each site so you have a unique password for each site.

Examples:
"Facebook plays grab-ass with 12 monkeys."
"I like to play grab-ass with Pinterest after 10."

Every website requiring a password login should have, prominently displayed, a change password button. At least on the home page and IMHO, on every page or at least next to every login button.

This site, Google and many others make it way too hard to change your password. As the prompt is never seen, the topic is rarely thought about.

Might be a good idea to make a list of these IP's and occasionally run a script to check that no one is logged in from them... b/c it might not be the actual user.

Changing the number of allowed attempts from 5 to 3 might slow down the bot/malicious person also

A lot of us have gotten these messages, my guess is that it's spambots trying to brute force our logins so they can spam ads. Makes sense if you think about it, cause established users are going to be trusted and not deleted for some random product link.
