Failed Login Notification Email
I received this email last night about 9 and am wondering what I should do with this information?

Dear OnTheChip,

Someone has tried to log into your account on SR20 Community Forum - The Dash with an incorrect password at least 5 times. This person has been prevented from attempting to login to your account for the next 15 minutes.

The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address: 183.222.164.229

All the best,
SR20 Community Forum - The Dash

That is apparently a well known Chinese hacker/spam site which should be blocked from the forum site permanently anyway. Is there a way to specify "only US IPs allowed for this account"?

Thanks,
Dave

There may not be much to do with that information, other than know that the forum software is protecting you decently well.

I will look into IP restrictions on accounts, but I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Cliché, I know, but make sure your password is strong. I like to use full sentences. They are extremely strong, yet easy to remember and type. They are very long, they automatically include capital letters and two different types of special characters (spaces and punctuation) and can easily include digits. They can also easily be tailored to each site so you have a unique password for each site.

Examples:
"Facebook plays grab-ass with 12 monkeys."
"I like to play grab-ass with Pinterest after 10."

@Storm88000, I have the same advice for you that I had for Dave.

And just for informational purposes, I'm seeing that IP belonging to a TOR Exit Node.

Someone is trying to break into accounts here
I received an email from the dash this morning stating that someone tried to access my account from a foreign IP address. Luckily they failed to enter my password correctly and had the account locked. This is why strong passwords are a must.

Here is the IP and some useless info on it. They were using a proxy so it could be anyone anywhere.

Admins would it be possible to ban this IP. it is likely a static IP.

Has anyone else had issues recently with account theft?

I had this issue this morning also. Seems we have a troll on our hands. I made a thread in this section about it. I will leave the IP here also.

@D-Unit121 I merged your thread with this one so we can keep track of these instances.

I also got one and it, likewise, traced back to a tor exit node.
