Thread: Why is the server going down every few weeks all of a sudden?

Separate issues, first time was due to the person we share server space with doing upgrades on his forum that messed up ours. The second time was due to an attack on the server that resulted on the server being disconnected. Both issues are hopefully resolved for good now.

Why cannot this forum be hosted on a separate machine?

thats up to the owner, but likely because its spreads out the costs b/t two sites running on one physical server

how much money would it take

server hardware isnt cheap.... neither is paying for the bandwidth to support the users being on at the same time

And we use a LOT of bandwidth on this forum.

Since im going into the networking field... id actually think it would be cool if someone had a graph of it.
