Thread: Whats up with the ads?

wtf is up with the ads at the top of the page?

Whats wrong with what ads? The google ad? Google serves ads based on what types of sites you've been visiting.

Ads help pay for stuff, at least its not like that other site with its ads lol

I was on the old forum yesterday reading Miko's how-to swap a 6 speed HLSD tranny onto an SR motor and any time a car part like flywheel or clutch or something similar is mentioned, there is a line under the word to indicate it is clickable. Well when you click on it, it leads you to ebay or something similar where you can purchase said item. The link was added by a third-party after the fact. I am sure Miko is thrilled about that! I understand advertising helps to pay bills but taking a man's how-to and filling it up with clickable links to buy stuff is kind of pushing it if you ask me.

Forum has to stay up somehow.

not knocking it, just thought it was hilarious that something about a roman orgy was at the top of the page...and no...I haven't been searching orgy's crim

Anyways a couple ads is fine and there has been no noticable speed difference from this site as far as loading time because of them. So yeah forum has to stay up somehow.

The old forum is just rediculous. Its all ads and nothing more almost now a days. The old forum takes literally 50X longer to load a given page than this forum does. And when you have slower internet, its useless to even try to go on there. I havent been on the old forum in months because of the ads and how slow it is.

So Crim, all in all your doing a great job with this forum and keeping it running smoothly and quickly and much appreciated.

I was searching for carpets for the b14 on jc whitney a while back and for the next six months all I saw was auto carpet ads

I dont mind the ads. Every now and then something good pops up that I didnt know about or that is a good deal. I was on Honda-tech yesterday and an Ad for a good 1/2 drive 15-150 ft-lb digital torque wrench popped up and using the code provided because I saw it on Honda-tech it saves 60 bucks on the wrench w/case. So i sent the link to my dad for a christmas gift. lol.
