LOL I've been thinking of doing for the last 4 years. I always told myself that if I ever sold my b14 I'd post this as the price. "Just to have a price: $1,000,000...... OBO"

There's been some talk about the severity of the rules regarding not completing the For Sale template completely. Some of the members in this thread think thread deletion or locking is too harsh.

What do others think?

I think a warning would be fair. I know the rules should be read but some people do not. Whether, they are too busy or lazy, who knows. A quick reply or PM would be cool. If someone repeatedly does it, then yes, more action should be taken.

My take on that. I love the new policy on it. Seems to be a lot less negative reports of he took my money or I got a shitty part since the new policy.

If you cant follow simple instructions in a template given to you then you dont need to be selling anything. Simple as that. Read it before just getting frustrated with it. When it says to insert image here they are not literally asking you to put it between the [img][/img] brackets. Erase that crap and post a picture like you would anywhere else on the forum. Not hard to do.

Pretty self explanitory for the most part unless your semi retarded.

I guess for me I don't see it as a big production to have a For Sale thread locked with a notification as to why, and a notification of which mod (although any would do) to PM to get the thread unlocked. You log back in, check your thread, see that it is locked for x reason. You now have a choice. You can leave it like that and the thread will stagnate, or you can PM that moderator (or any of the others) with your intention to update the thread and have it unlocked. It doesn't have to be a "warning" of any kind. Just a simple reminder to the OP that they've left some stuff out and that they can work with us to get it resolved.

For sure, deleting the thread is all sorts of obnoxious, since you can lose many minutes or sometimes hours of typing, formatting and research. This for me is to be reserved for the extreme cases with repeat offenders and warnings being ignored.

In my mind, the lock and a polite request to get the information in check is less severe than a warning. It also proactively protects the members here (since that's why those rules are in place) and it doesn't rely on the moderators to have to remember to come back and lock the thread if no reply is ever received.

Thoughts?

Yes. Yes on the lock vs. delete. A delete does not educated the offending forum member. He/she is then likely to duplicate the offense, or just get too frustrated to post, both of which are counterproductive to a healthy Classifieds section.

I love the idea of a lock, reminder, and chance to correct.

Repeat offenders can go sell their items somewhere else.

Since some people really don't know how to use [] for coding, maybe we offer drop down menus and delete the [] formatting...

For sure the template is getting an minor usability overhaul. If it doesn't turn out a bit more user friendly than before I will be surprised.
