PEDRONX2k, I feel your pain, but you have to realize the problem is MUCH bigger than you seen to think. Keeping a list of people/threads you've warned to get into shape, and then going back over and checking those threads is an impossible task for the moderation team. It's just not going to happen. It is asking too much.

If you feel you have threads you'd like the text to, maybe PMing a mod directly would get the job done. You can get your For Sale text PMed to you (hopefully) and you can recreate the thread. That's your best solution IMO.

As for all the other threads that are still not deleted. I'm sure the mods would be more than happy if you would report them all. That way they can be deleted, and no one will appear to be pulling favors. (I'm pretty sure exceptions aren't being made, it's just that they are being deleted as they are found.)

You could accomplish three things by reporting the threads. You could help the mods. You could make sure there are no exceptions being made. And you would soon find out what kind of monumental task it would be for a couple of moderators to find all of the nonconforming threads, PM all of the sellers with a warning, and then go back over the list and check them after a certain period of time. Just thinking about having to do all that makes me pissed off.

I think old classified posts that get bumped up to the top that are not following the rules that were put in place since the forums inception, get either warned to fix their thread, or removed.

You can't make everyone happy -- everyone complains about the classifieds not following the rules. Put in a solution to fix that, and then everyone else complains about it. *shrugs*

It's just a transition period we'll get through Crim.
If I had a For Sale thread that got deleted, I'd be pretty pissed that I didn't get a warning either, but hopefully I could get the text back with a PM so I could recreate it with the new format.
The rules have been around for a long time now. They are in black and white. I wouldn't have much of a leg to stand on to complain. If I did complain, I'd say I'd deserve to be ignored as long as the rules were being applied to everyone.

Again,

I did post a forum announcement that was as clear as a sunny day... To me, that announcement spoke volumes. Either you correct your stuff, or it can/will be deleted without any notification.

I'm guessing that's not good enough, and I should have instituted a Mass PM system that would have taxed the forum to a stand still? (We all know that's not going to happen)

I don't agree with the 'real name' rule. If this is just first names, then I'm fine with it(maybe). Otherwise, that will seriously impact my decision to continue offering things for sale on this forum.

I like to keep my place on the intertubes and my place in my 'RL' separate for good reasons. I see no valid reason to include our full names. Maybe someone can explain that to me(Please do..).

yeah, maybe it wouldn't be so bad if there was limited viewing in the classifieds, where only registered members could see the classifieds (sort of like off-topic)...

but I do see your privacy concerns, i'm just much less worried about it...

I think it makes it easier to track someone down if they skip town. we had a guy who was "caught" after ripping someone off, only because we knew his full name... if someone is on here with a fake name, it could make it easier to get away with scamming someone.

Exactly..the fact that we are REQUIRING a 'real name', will make someone looking to DO harm perform their job better.

If I'm scamming someone and provide a fake 'real name', a buyer will trust me MORE, which will make my job easier to scam people on this forum.

This rule creates a step that punishes the trustworthy sellers with an extra step of hassle and INCREASES the chance of scam, NOT decreases for people who are looking to do harm.

Unless the admins are performing back ground checks to confirm real names, than this rule makes absolutely no sense at all. None.

well, that's not exactly what I was saying.. wait, you're confusing my points I think.. but I see the one's you're making, and they make sense.. but not exactly what I was saying.

if a scammer/seller uses a fake name, they can easily scam someone when they take your money and stop communication, and not send a product.. with no recourse.

if a legit/seller uses his REAL name, and some scammer is on the forum who wants to practice the art of identity theft.. that's making it hard to be a real seller... like G said, it's punishing the legit sellers on this forum. Some legit folks are very open with their name, phone number, email address.. but others like to reveal that only to a select few.
