"Technically, he's not selling... He's trading...

I believe the minimum post thing for sellers is to reduce risk of being ripped off.. Something of this nature, the risk is super slim since obviously all transactions would be local and in person..

Maybe this grey area should be reconsidered in the rules, imho."

In regards to this thread: http://www.sr20-forum.com/cars/39685-trade-90-miata-b13-se-r-sf-bay-area-only.html

Like I said in the thread (quoted), the minimum post rules are generally set to avoid scammers and fraud. In situations like this, scam and fraud situations are a near impossible being both parties would be local and meeting in person to 'Trade' cars. Whole cars (and other items), in trade or sale (Where no shipping will be taking place), should be reconsidered in those rules. Local only sales are a bit harder to scam...

I'm tentatively with you badhabits727. I think local trades or maybe even sales would be worthy of by-passing the minimum post count rule. Or the minimum iTrader rating if that does go into effect.

not trying to dick but Ben your post is not helping the thread itself.

if someone isn't following the rules correctly, all you can really do is report it.

unless i missed something, are you a mod?

I'm reporting some threads, and others I'm reminding the sellers of the rules. Clearly we have a problem on our hands. 90% of sellers are not following the rules. The sellers need to be reminded of the rules since they aren't following them or aren't even aware of them.

Personally I'd love to see some of the rules changed and I don't think I'm alone. I think some of the rules are out of touch with reality. Other rules I think are extremely helpful. Until the rules change or until sellers follow them I will be reminding sellers to straighten up and fall in line.

No, I am not a moderator. You can join me in reminding sellers of the rules if you'd like.

Take it easy, or consider yourself a vacation, all expenses paid.

Consider this your warning. You have every right to report posts, but you're getting out of hand by responding to threads on your own accord.

Secondly, you apparently aren't reporting them enough, because I haven't received a flood of e-mails to my inbox...

Do it again, and we'll see you in a week.

What is out of hand is the amount of sellers not following the rules. It's basically 99% right now as I see it. What have the mods been doing since October to stop this? I know Vadim has been doing a bit to try to enforce the 50-post minimum rule.

It's also pretty sad that two months go by without a single mod answering which rules are going to be enforced or not. I assume they are all to be enforced (what else could I assume?) so I'm making sure the sellers are aware of the rules. If that's an issue, I will stop.

So you'd like the threads to be reported instead of posted in? I'd be happy to.

HOLY FUCK.

Ben, you replied in TWENTY EIGHT threads, by copy/pasting in them with the forum rules. You're not a moderator. REPORT THE THREAD, if you're not uber satisfied with the way it was created.

Not only that, but you seem to be off your rocker lately. We're diligently working on a solution in the background, which is TRANSPARENT. Ah, there's that word again. Transparency.

You don't need to know what we're doing, you just need to know that we're working on a solution.

I highly suggest you just calm it down a few notches. Seriously.

As it stands right now 99% of the For Sale threads coming through the pipeline are completely against the rules for classified threads. I've decided to take it upon myself to stop that trend since no one else seems to care to do it. Shoot the messenger much?

What you and the rest of the mods are doing in the background really has nothing to do with it. We can talk about the 2+ months the forum has been in limbo later. Right now there are rules in place and they are being broken. If the rules are good, and are there for a reason, then I think we can all agree they should be enforced.

I will report them instead of informing the thread creator as you've requested.

I think what we're going to do instead is just moderate the entire FS section so that threads need to be approved before they can even be posted. Would that make you feel better?

You know if you would have just reported the threads, it would have saved me time. Instead, I had to delete each one of your posts since you clearly broke the forum rules by posting in threads that did not pertain to the items for sale directly.

Do we have to keep going round and round with this?
