I think it is a perfectly legitimate question to ask. Ignoring the question, or stating the original price is also a perfectly legitimate response.

@canx2k, are you proposing a rule prohibiting asking for 'best price shipped '? That seems a bit silly.

I understand things went to shit with that Fatman guy, but his question wasn't the problem. His going off the deep end on your reply, that, THAT was the problem.

Fair enough - just seems that no matter the response, the result would be not as good as wanted - In sales, finding 'the number in the buyers head' is difficult. It's a losing battle. The seller wouldn't willingly lower their price to the whole world from one person asking best price, so the repricussions from simply restating the original asking price or saying 'send me an offer and we'll talk', to me, that's silly. If we didn't think the price was reasonable, we wouldn't be asking for that amount.

I have no problem with a buyer trying to get a better price. Nor do I have a problem with a seller sticking to his original price. Anyone with half a brain though, will do the negotiation in private.
