The automated moderator note took over my entire post instead of being at the end of it...hate having to type something twice I can never make it sound as nice the second time
This is an ongoing problem that I've alerted the mods about via reporting a few threads. I believe Crim needs to fix it. We need to get him on the case.

The forum announcements section is where sir because I don't see it on the home page. I still don't see why new announcements can't be sent as a form as a pm this should not be a problem for who ever runs the site.

Once a forum announcement has been made, it forces all logged in members to see it and read it / dismiss it before continuing on using the forum. You seriously can't miss it.
After that, they can be found at the top of (above the stickies) the section(s) it applies to.

Look at the top of any FS section. It isn't f'n rocket science. PAY ATTENTION. You would probably complain that you didn't check the email that the announcement was sent to also.

Lol. Must suck to be that guy.

Oh, if she wants to know how well she did I can point out where the info she found was wrong. Maybe in a PM or forum chat. We've gone way off topic.

all the "benfen" talk was before she did any research.. she was just saying your name outloud and it was making her crack up.. and she was typing it the way she was saying it to try and get me to laugh too, but I guess my sense of humor isn't quite like hers.. i dont see the funny..

Since it was brought up recently, I wanted to voice my opinion on the rule requiring pictures in For Sale threads. I've discussed it in PMs with people but it seems appropriate to put here too. This specifically relates to Andreas Miko and possibly other highly trusted forum members who sell items often. Obviously there is little need to require them to post pictures from a "we require pictures to help weed out scammers" point of view. However, that is how the rule is written right now. Not requiring Andreas Miko to follow the rule wouldn't be fair or prudent. It creates an image of the moderators being above the rules, which they are not. It is also very easy for the moderation staff to create and stand behind bad or inconvenient rules if they themselves don't have to follow them and suffer under them and never experience what it is really like to follow them.

There's an easy answer to this problem. Just change the rule so that whatever it is about Andreas Miko that makes him special can be obtained by any other member. Dre is a trusted member and seller. If he doesn't want to go through the hassle of taking, hosting, and posting pictures (I agree it is a bitch) then I don't think he should have to since we know he's trustworthy. Neither should anyone else we consider trustworthy. Simply change the rule to reflect that. Here would be some suggestions with my favorite first.

  • -You MUST include a picture of your item. At this point pretty much everybody's got a digital camera or a phone with camera, or you can borrow one. Therefore, no more 'Email for pics.' If you have pics of the items you're selling, put them online and link to them or hotlink them in the thread. Exceptions to this rule are anyone with an iTrader rating above 30. (Or some suitably high, but obtainable number.)

Exceptions to this rule are anyone cleared by the moderation staff as exempt based on length of time in the community, track record of trustworthiness, submission of personal details, and/or other factors. A list of these exempt people can be found here: *link*

While pictures are very nice to have, I don't think we have to make them mandatory for trusted members; do we?

All classifieds require images. This includes posts by all moderators including Miko. This has been discussed by the moderator staff, and it was decided that yes, not even the moderators are above the rules.

Hey crim, is the automatic moderator going nuts or are there really that many people not following the base rules?

Just so you guys know trades are considered as regular FS transactions.

-Trades are subject to the same rules as the For Sale threads. If you have a trade post it in the For Sale section using the For Sale template

Why is it considered a For Sale item? Because the item is leaving your hands and going into another person's hands. You are still able to rip someone off by promising to ship the item but never doing it.

Bump rule has been updated.

- Bumping Rule: You are allowed one bump per day. Bumps that can be used more once per day are: "Item(s) sold" or "Prices lowered".

Do not reply to your own post saying:
"Replied to emails"
"Replied to PMs"
"Added pics"
or anything else that a viewer of the thread can figure out by looking at the thread. These are all blatant forms of bumping and the Bumping Rules apply.
