You gotta be careful the forum can't protect you. I've been almost scammed by a guy with high posts too and had great deals with newbs but them I always meet up.

Funny thing is the guy who almost scammed me got right up my ass about doing the right thing after much waiting and frustration on my part... even threatened to open a paypal dispute the same day. This is after I waited over a month. Some people have no perspective.

I agree no matter what new rules we implement, there will still be untrustworthy people.

What some of these measures will do, however, will reduce the occurrence of it. I think we should also add the rating % like the old forum had. Just seeing 'iTrader: (10)' for example says nothing. Could be all 10 negative reviews. That needs to be changed too.

Pics required-if not thread is deleted.

In with the pic/pics you must have at least one picture showing your user name and date on a piece of paper next to the item being sold.

No for sale section posting unless you have more than 50 posts, off topic posts not counted.

I really think we should have some rules like this. I know its kind of a pain but seriously there has been way too many people losing money and people coming in scamming people in the last 6 months.

We can make this a discussion of some ideas and if any rules section gets applied the mods need to be strict about them. No playing games with it. I know we are a tight community but even then its peoples money being played with and the last few scammers have taken not just little amounts but hundreds.

i agree with the ones in red and bold

Good points wnwright. No matter what we do someone will find a way to scam it. I guess a good rule of thumb is, if the person has a low iTrader rating, don't buy it from them. Selling stuff to them is might not be as bad.

Always a good idea to also pay with PayPal and if they don't ship the parts within 45 days file a dispute. I know this is harsh, and if the seller complains, you can send them (the seller) to me and I'll take care of it.

You would have to issue an exemption for Andreas Miko on the pics. After that I say the rule should be air tight. I have no problems with stricter rules as I always take pics and all. Hate clicking ads that don't have them, there really is no excuse for that.

+1... If it comes down to being required to take pictures of NIB parts or common parts in new condition, I will refuse. It is a silly rule. If people are questionable and it gives you a better feeling then you can ASK them to take the picture. If they refuse and are new then it would be suspect.

Why? Do you not know what the part you are asking about looks like? I like pictures too, but honestly most of the time they don't matter.

Pictures don't really show condition very well most of the time and you have to trust the description of the condition.

Example: I can sell rods that are ruined (crank end out of round). Degrease them and take pictures and they would look just like new in the pictures. You would get them and if you didn't measure to check them you would be spinning bearings in no time and be clueless why.

true, but we are talking about having the items in hand more than the item not being as described. You get more people taking peoples money for parts and never sending anything out to those that purchased.

More of that happening than not as described parts.

Like I said earlier I've been scammed 3 times on this forum... All 3 times by long term members... Received parts not as described (all parts unusable). Nobody wanted to hear about it when it happened because they were "good" people. I have seen this many many many more times than people not receiving. It is just that people not receiving parts is much more vocal usually and gets more broadcast.

If you are worried about not receiving from an unknown person then get feedback from other forums, ebay, etc or request the photo with screenname. Requiring everybody to take pictures when this isn't a systemic issue is asinine. This issue only comes from a small group that is easy to spot.

I do believe there should be an IP rule for the feedback tho. That is silly that somebody can bump up their own feedback with multiple names.
