"New Post" warning
Another forum I'm a member of has this handy feature that warns you of additional responses before posting yours.

Say I'm typing a response to a new thread, and during my typing a member or two respond. I won't see it, and my post might be redundant or ignorant of new facts that I wasn't able to see. This has happened to a bunch of people, as you can see they edited their posts and felt silly typing all that time to just have someone else respond first.

This other forum, running SMF 1.1.10, will warn you. When the aforementioned happens, when you hit "Post reply", it will bring you back to that screen, with your response still typed, and has large red letters above the response box saying "Others have responded while you were typing" and shows the new responses in line above the box, lets you re-read the new answers, and lets you either edit your post or continue to post what you already typed.

Any way we could get this implemented here? It's so convenient and helpful to have the forum warn you of things you didn't know were happening. It will help reduce edits, and people posting twice due to not knowing what was happening as they type.

For people like myself, Vadim, Shawn B, and everyone else that tends to write novels like this, it's a lifesaver!

Good call, kinda like the Gmail feature. I wouldn't mind it. By the time we are done with novels, 200 posts pass by

LMAO. At least the forum keeps me entertained

Look at the JMR thread, though. Threadnaughts like that can have responses every few seconds, and all of a sudden your response didn't take the last 3 or 4 posts into account.

It's a luxury, thats for sure, but it's a damn handy luxury. Some people just won't have a use for it.

As the third novelist, I love the idea.
